I just found this forum and can't stop reading all there is in here. I was able to get some chinese chanels on sat GE-4 up until last week. Now there is nothing I can do to get it back :( . I have a Microyal MRX-866 receiver and a 100 cm dish asnd a KU Band V/H LNBF. Can someone give me an idea why the signal would disappear out of the blue. I am pretty new to this and would love to learn more. Thanks.

Hey thanks for the quick welcome. To be honest, I do not know whether GE-4 is AMC4 or not. I was picking up 3 stations at channels 158 and higher. I have been playing around with it for the past week and have not been able to find anything. I used to able to receive a signal from Telstar5 but that disappeared as well. I have not moved my dish at all until yesterday and even then it has not helped. My signal strenght is quite good on Telstar12 but I get no quality. thanks.

I think GE4 is AMC4...only one with a 4 in it :D

what channels are you trying to get and also what is your lcoation? Then we can give you angle locations and to verify if the channels are still there

I am in Toronto, Canada. I cannot remember the actual names of the channels I was watching. This may sound like a pretty dumb question but if I have good signal strength does that mean that I just need to search with the receiver for signal quality? Right now I would like to find any satellite I can watch to get some confidence. thanks.

Signal strength does not mean anything, you need signal QUALITY.

You will need to enter the Frequency/Polarity/ and Symbol rate of a LIVE channel then move your dish until you get signal quality : (

Then you can try a blind scan. if you think you are on a satellite no harm in trying a blind scan!

Ok lets look at what could go wrong.

The channels have moved or removed. Could happen. When is the last time you watched the channels?

The receiver went bad. This happen to me once. Do you have access to a 18" DTV/Dish network dish and LNBF? If so try hooking it up and aim it at 110 or 119 W to check the receiver. http://www.lyngsat.com/echo7.html use 11250 for the LO.

The LNB/LNBF went bad. Does not happen too offen but can. Do you have another LNB/LNBF you can try?

The cable or connects on it went bad. Try another cable and move the TV and receiver as close to the dish so it takes less time to aim the dish.

Any chance you have a signal meter? If not concider getting one off E-bay for under $20. They work if you have a standard LNB. Not so well on the universals.

Something is blocking the dish. Anything new in front of the dish?

Good luck and keep us posted.
