After the debacle of the Hr20 locking up after over a year and them sending me a new hr21. I asked if since my 20 was still fine since it was a software issue and I need my OTA if I could keep the 21. They said they will waive the sale cost and just do the extra receiver for the 5 bucks a month. Problem is they only sent receiver with remote. I already use my 2 filters on my Hr20 and now want to disconect one of my 15's and in place put the new hr21. But I have to set it as OVAL 3 LNB's to work since I dont have the 2 filters. YIKES! Dont want to push my luck by asking Direct for some.

Are you referring to the LNB's, what are these filters your talking about.
If you are using a HR20/21 and want the new HD channels you will need a Slimline dish regardless, if you call D* they will install it free, or you can buy one from a sight sponsor and install it yourself.
You need the 5 LNB set up in order to pick up the 99 and 103 sats.
Eventually they will go back to a 3 lnb set up, but that will be after they remove channels from the 110 and 119 sats.

Sorry to confuse. I already have the 5lnb new dish. The problem is you need the filters that your Rg-6 from the Dish feeds into just before they plug into your receivers. The receivers come with two. However since this was sent as a replacement receiver it did not contain the needed to to get sats 99-103 So I essentially have to set my second receiver to a 3 lnb oval setting to work properly as it wont find the other 2 sats without the filters.

The other sucky thing is they only dropped the standard 4 feeds straight to a grounding block with 4 feeds into my home. 2 into my living room so I am good there. one into the kids room and one into master bedroom. I dont want to shell out the bucks for the one wire switch option. They will comeback out and put a 6by8 switch in and drop one more rg6 to master for 80 bucks. I am okay with single feed for now but need those 2 line filters at receiver for most of my HD channels.

Does this make more sense.
Thanks again.

Yes, this make much better sense now.
Unfortunatly , you cannot get the filters (BBC's Broadband Convertors) anywhere other than D*, they will send them out to you for free if you call and tell them you need some.
You can also order them online from D*'s website, I'm not sure where on the website, it's been awhile since I needed any.

Personally, I would call them and tell them you need some, tell them you need enough for all your rec's, this way you'll have a spare if you need it.

btw, if you can get channel 480, 481 it will tell you if your BBC's are working.

If you call them, tell them you need a WB6x8 multiswitch now and see if they will send you one free. It can't hurt to ask, or ask the next D* tech you see around ...

Sorry Steve,
You guys slipped my mind as far as getting them

I would still suggest he try D* first, as he should get them free from D*.
It's good to know that you have them :up
