I didnt know how to word the title...here's what I'm doing

Have an old H10 receiver I got from Goodwill....has old card in it so it at least works. Hooked up a line from my dish and the OTA antenna too. Scanned in my locals and got the freebie channels like 100,200,201 and thats about it

Basically I want to use the receiver just for HD OTA. Seems to work better than the converter boxes and this one has HDMI ;)

Now when I use to have my 811 set up for OTA if I left the receiver on a OTA channel for like 2 hours the 811 would freak because it couldnt remember where the sat connection was.

Will this receiver "freak" too since I am going to use it exclusively for OTA? Should I leave it on 100 when done or just use the OTA portion?

No idea on that one. As a guess though without being activated I imagine the DVR features would be disabled. Are you just using it as an OTA live tuner?

There is no DVR in it....Its a MPEG2 HD tuner with a ASTC tuner in it

Yes I'm using it as a OTA tuner mainly because my DTVPal only has a 10-12 hour guide and it seems like this one now goes out about 3 days so far (havent checked to see how far it went out)

Oddball setup (but then again its me so everything is oddball)
Have my DTVPal DVR set up to the "main" OTA antenna for Minneapolis.
Have a 2nd antenna facing the opposite way for a distant CBS/Fox setup. I had that through the DTVPalDVR too but it caused too many hiccups. The signal sometimes cuts out and on the DVR it did it more than a straight converter box. The H10 seems to hold the signal better with minimal hiccups . Also since its VHF and my local NBC & Fox are also VHF they suffered on the quality meter too
Have it hooked up to a standalone DVD recorder/Hard drive

I know I have to set 2 timers (receiver and hard drive/dvd recorder) but heck until I got D* thats what I was doing ;)

Have to try that with my H10, or my Samsung 360(upgraded to H20s a year or so ago)...

I got an old Sony that does the same thing and that one will work without a dish (but then you have no guide and no timers)
The H10 needs a sat connection

by the way it can sit on a OTA channel for a while. Had it on for a few hours today and it worked fine when I changed to 100

I've had an old 360 hooked up in our office conference room for 3 years with out an issue.

Every time we turn it on, it's fine. It can sit idle for weeks/months at a time.
