My husband wanted me to ask this question. We have an old 8' aluminum C-band dish that still works very well in our back yard. Would it be possible to take the DISH feedhorn and place it on the old C-band dish at the focal point? Of course the dish would have to be aimed at the right satellite. He's thinking that the signal would be way stronger and the rain wouldn't affect the signal as much. Thank you.

It is possible to do it but unnecessary really. You could put a dish LNBF in the center focal point and set the dish on 119. Then w/ 2 other LNBF's and a kit to be able to move the feeds to correct location to the E & W of the main feed find 110 & 129. There is no way to get the 3 head to work correctly w/ the big dish and get full illumination of the whole reflector.
Also is the dish mesh or solid? An expanded mesh could lose signal through the size of the holes and if the mesh isn't rolled flat can reflect some signals away from the focal point.
Why would he want to do that? Dish will install a single dish which will receive all 3 sats in your arc, My 10 ft bud dish weht for scrape
Yeah unless you like a challenge I would fool with doing it, instead get you a good fta receiver and supplement what you have with channels you can get that you won't find on DISH.
