Can I reuse an EHD with Tivo stuff on it?

I have a WD MyBook 2TB EHD. Will the Hopper 3 wipe it for me when it is first connected? Do I need to wipe this clean first? If so, how?

any advice appreciated.

The Hopper will automatically format the drive.

That's what format the drive means.

Has anyone tried a partitioned EHD and if so, how do Dish receivers deal with them ? Do they repartition the drive before formatting or will it just use the "first" partition, for instance ?
