I have DTV36EDS directv 36" international satellite dish with 95W linear LNB. My receiver is Evolution FTA. I can get about %60 quality and I can pick up signals from galaxy25 in both horizontal and vertical frequencies. I can get very clear channels from a horizontal frequency, but when I get to vertical frequencies I can't get any, even though signal quality is very similar(about %60). Is this normal? Any solutions? Also I need to slightly adjust my dish everytime when I change frequencies in the same satellite. Is this also normal?

What skew are you using? It sounds like the skew might off a bit. Try these two strong transponders and adjust skew to get both.

12151 H 20000
12176 V 22997

Skew for galaxy 25 in my zipcode, which is 75006, should be close to 0. It is actually 0.2 degrees. So I don't have any skew.

Are you using any switches? If so, connect without the switch. It could also be that the LNB has come to the end of it's useful life. :(

Ok cool. Try those two strong transponders. I haven't used the DirecTV World Direct dish, but I've used the Super Dish equivalent and you should be able to pickup strong transponders without issue. Hopefully someone else has used that dish and can comment.

I think the World Dish is one polarity (horizontal) only so to get vertical you would have to turn the LNB 90 degrees to get V

Actually I am not using any switches. LNB goes directly to my receiver. The funny thing is that I have just bought the LNB and the channel that I want is in vertical.

Thank you guys. I have solved the problem. Directv's installation instructions are all according to horizontal signals. because directv's internation programming are all on horizontal that's what confused me. I think the dish is fine.

if you want both V & H

It's possible to obtain an inexpensive LNB that will bolt up to your existing feedhorn, and let you get both horizontal and vertical.

There are at least two choices:
- bandstacked FSS LNB reclaimed from a Dish Network SuperDish
- Hughes (?) voltage switches LNB with single output
- old original Primestar (not sure brand of LNB) with separate V and H outputs (it'd need a 2x2 multiswitch)
- Invacom QPF-031 LNB, but it's the most expensive - (not to be confused with the QPH-031)

Okay, sue me... there are at least four choices. -
The second is probably the least trouble for most folks.
