Can I keep my 942 after upgrade to 622?

Let's say I want to upgrade to a 622 and I want to keep my 942 as a second OTA recorder. Do I have to subscribe to anything to keep it active for OTA, or can I use it strictly as a standalone box? I know I will forfeit the $200 rebate, but will dish allow this?

I assume I'm leasing. I've only been a subscriber since August and I only paid about $250 for my 942 at sign-up.

If you keep the 942 subscribed to service on your account you can keep it.

If you remove it from the account it must be returned since it's a leased unit.

Like Kevin said, Since you are leasing it, you must keep it activated or return it. If you had owned it, you could pay the enabling fee to use the OTA tuner.

If you keep it activated, the 942 will keep any mpeg2 HD channels as well.

What about the program guide? Will it continue to be updated for his OTA?

In order for the OTA prgram guide to be updated, you must subscribe to the locals pack.

It's early here. On the 942 the OTA guide info is only available if you subscribe to the Dish LIL pack for 5.98. If you don't subscribe to the LIL pack the guide says INFO NOT AVAILABLE.

I know a lot of people wish E* just provided the guide info w/o subbing. Even then I don't get guide data for my CBS sub channel and it's O&O.

I thought that only applied to the MPEG4 receivers.
