Can I get an HD feed on 2 TVs using a 622?

I have a 622 reciever in my basement where my HDTV is. I then run a coax line from the second tuner upstairs to feed an SDTV. I would like to replace the SDTV with an HDTV, however, I am not sure I can get an HD feed to it based on the outputs on the back of the 622.

I appears it only offers a coax output, or an RCA output. Can I use Cat-5 to run an HD feed to the second tv? Is there any possible way of achieving HD for the second tv, or do I have to get a second HD reciever?

If you hook one set up with HDMI and the other set with the componet outlets you can hook up two HDTV's. You will have to watch the same thing on both sets with this hook up.

:) i think he meant he wants to watch hd programing on his second sd-tv in sd format. I'm using mine for one tv but was told you could see hd programing in sd format on the tv 2 output. i may be wrong?????

Not sure how you are trying to use this. I have two HD sets connected on a single 622. My single hdmi/dvi TV input is tied up by my hd-a1. But it is possible to split the component signal. The cheapest way I found is this:

Then you'll want a toslink splitter. Monoprice is a good source.

Of course you won't be able to view two different programs simultaneously upstairs and downstairs. You'll be splitting TV1 to two sets. TV2 is SD only.

The easiest way is use component and optical digital for HD TV1.
Then use a long HDMI cable for HDTV 2. But there are limits to length used.

TV1 could still watch a diiferent channel (sd only) using coax split from tv 2 output.

Conversely, use HDMI/Optical for TV1 and make yourself 5 long cables (RG6 with RCA plugs) for component video/audio to run to TV2's location. Some have reported 75' runs this way with no discernable degradation, and this option would probably cost less than the long HDMI cable, YMMV...

Thanks for the replys. It seems I will have to get a second HD reciever if I want an HD signal for my second tv that is seperate from tuner 1 on the 622. For some reason I thought the 622 allowed for both tuners to be HD. Obviously I was wrong. Is there any talk of when Dish will launch a dual tuner reciever with both tuners offering HD?

In the 622 all three tuners are HD (2 sats., 1 OTA). It's the TV outputs that are in question here. TV1 is HD or SD (according to program content and user settings in the 622). TV2 is SD or down-converted HD only. There are many posts that confuse the tuners with the TV outputs.
