Interesting factoid: AT&T DirecTV does not like mobile RV accounts and prefers porn to Hallmark!

Do you realize that if you live in an RV you can add porn to your DirecTV viewing but not Hallmark. You can add Playboy and Penthouse but not the Movies Extra Pack that includes Hallmark Drama and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. DirecTV says its because we have a mobile account. That’s funny because we’ve had a mobile account since Sept 2009.

That was when we got a waiver for DNS (Distant Network Services) which you can only get if you live in an RV. We got the waiver reauthorized in 2019 so they knew we were still in an RV. We’ve had the Movies Extra Pack for years and it suddenly went away in August 2020 since they said we were now a mobile account. I spent many hours on the phone trying to add it back and it comes down to we can’t have the Movies Extra Pack with a mobile account.

But I could have added Penthouse during the call. ATT DirecTV prefers porn to Hallmark and does not like mobile RV accounts!!

Is this because your equipment (or they think your equipment) is SD due to being in the RV? Most RV setups (not all) are SD based on the 101 satellite. If that is the case their system is likely not set to offer the HD pack add-on because there is no SD equivalent channels.

Accounts with DNS service went through some changes when the authorization from Congress expired. I'm not too familiar with the changes but the "mobile account" and the timing would make sense.

I also wouldn't be surprised if you could get it before moving to the AT&T billing system if you were on the DirecTV system before. The AT&T system is still a horrible disappointment for DirecTV customers despite being what, 5 years now?
