One of my C41-700 client devices died. DirecTV said it was a circuit board, they're sending a replacement. Is there any way to get the recordings off of the hard drive? Or swap the hard drive from the failed unit into another unit that I don't really use much?

The c41 is a client, so it doesn't store your recorded content, the main receiver does. So as long as your main receiver didn't die then you should be good to go when your new client arrives your records should still be on there.
