I am getting WABC and WNBC from NYC on my 10 foot dish.
Just got a DishTv receiver and picking up and paying for the Locals from L.A. Calif for $10.99 a month.
I told DishTv that i want the Locals from NYC too but they said that they will ask for a Waiver.
I am just wondering since I am getting 2 stations from NYC on my Big Dish and paying for it,will i be able to send DishTV a copy of the invoice showing the i am picking up NYC station and will they turn me on the the NYC stations if i Fax the a invoice or do i still have to go though a waiver?Johnny

Nope, it all has to do with the FCC.

In order to qualify for distant networks, you have to 1) not be able to have your local channels broadcast from Dish, and 2) have your local serving station give you a waiver, basically stating they don't serve your location and it's OK to get distant channels.

90% of the time they are denied. If you can get an off air signal they'll deny you. You can contest that, what they do around here is drive a little van out to your location, put up a big ol' antenna on top of their van, and if they can get signal, denied, if not, they grant it. Believe me, it's a small station with nothing to do (top story yesterday was how the rain was affecting crops).. most stations won't go through that.

I guess i am kinda lucky to Get Wabc and wnbc out of NYC on my big 10 foot satellite dish and i guess just be happy with it....
Thought the rules are if you leave Directv and you were getting NYC stations you just have to show a bill or invoice to dishtv proving that you were getting the NYC stations and there should be no problems with turning yea on....
Thought it would be the same way with a big dish?Johnny
