Just got this from Dish...

Starfish Television Network

Effective December 16th, 2009 by 5:00 PM ET we regret that Starfish Television Network will no longer be available on DISH Network.

This channel is currently not available with any satellite TV provider or major cable providers.

It (was?) a public broadcaster that provided programming by and for non-profits, at no charge to those non-profits. Guess they ran out of money. Can't imagine they ever had much of an audience.

it was a public interest channel. It was also on C-Band.
Guess they couldnt pay the uplink bill

Starfish was also on ch. 269. I think the spanish channel Mun2 will replace it on 269. Because if you look at last weeks uplink report you'll see Mun2 uplinked to 269.

This channel was occasionally useful for 129 testing purposes. I have a Dish 1000 with a mpeg 2 receiver so this was one of the only english channels I could receive off that sat. I couldn't stand it for more than 5 minutes though.
