Browns WR Stallworth hits, kills Fla. pedestrian

In addition to the prison term, two years of house arrest, and eight years of probation, Stallworth’s sentence includes the following terms: a $2,500 donation to Mothers Against Drunk Driving; a $2,500 donation to Parents of Murdered Children; and a lifetime forfeiture of his driver’s license.

ProFootballTalk.com - Stallworth Already Is In Custody

I don't know, id rather do prison for a couple years and be able to drive again. Though I'll never have the money to be chauffeured the rest of my life either. For someone with no history, and completely cooperating, this is starting to look a little harsh, heh. For him though, staying out of prison means he can still possibly play football and enjoy a multimillion dollar annual income.

He'll get a chauffeur, he has the money, plus then he can legally drink while the car is moving.

This is so ridiculous. 30 days for killing someone, only one worse was Rey Lewis.

My bad, I was having a "senior moment".:D For some reason I was thinking he had a 1 yr. sentence, even though i already commented on the 30 day sentence. I think I confused this with somebody else in the news. Oh hell, I don't know what the hell I was thinking. It's a bitch getting old.

No SM, your common sense kicked in. I'm sure even a 1 year sentence was light for anyone's common sense...

NOW it's the state of Florida's fault? LOL! Never mind that this lawyer went to every nook and cranny of the law to find his way out.

They interviewed Stallworth lawyer on 790 Th Ticket...check the audio of the interview yourselves.

I hate lawyers and sports writers, I'd love to beat that guy and Lebatard with a barb-wired wrapped 2x4. They both blamed the victim.

"Joe Blow would of got the same sentence with a public defender"

Salsa, every state has different little nuances on how they govern the law. Dante got penalized as if he just got a DUI. The whole story changed when it was revealed the man was not in the crosswalk. That changes EVERYTHING in Florida.

Not saying it's right, but I think if the same thing happened in Ohio he would've gotten a much more stiff penalty.

Are you sure about that? The victim's jaywalking would present some causation issues anywhere, but I honestly don't believe it would prevent a conviction is most cases.

He pled guilty to DUI manslaughter. Even though the victim's family was alright with the arrangement, the Judge works for and the prosecutor represents the people of the state - - - and they both failed.

Anyone surprised the Browns havn't released him yet? I hope they do. I realize he's probably not a evil guy and that he made a horrible mistake. I actually feel a little bit of sympathy for people who put themselves in these types of situations.......I just don't think I can cheer for him if/when he's reinstated.
