and are you really shocked? i'm not. lets watch how we dish the naive term around.

So your saying that there ABSOLUTELY was some illegal tampering because what? Please point out SOMETHING that other owners/GM/presidents of teams have never done by them.....I mean do you REALLY think after the Juwan Howard fiasco, that Riley would put himself in a similar situation? Really? Seriously?!

Why Kevin Durant is the new "Chosen One"

Is Kevin Durant your favorite NBA player yet? While Lebron James was busy wrapping the league around his finger, Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder were busy wrapping up a max contract extension. Did anyone hear a peep about it? Did the media follow his every move, tweeting every piece of information or misinformation gathered from the street? Cities didn't fall, franchises and reputations didn't crumble. The third best basketball player on the planet simply signed a new contract in the professional sports Mecca that is Oklahoma City, and nobody blinked an eye.

Kevin Durant isn't defined by a nickname. He doesn't call out his organization and his teammates. He just plays....

Somewhere around the time that Lebron finalized his signing-day speech and Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert released his instantly infamous letter, Durant secured his place as the purest, no-nonsense baller in the NBA. No mind games with the media or fans. No off-the-court drama or inflated sense of self-importance. No referring to himself in the third person. No overwhelming obsession with the Kevin Durant "brand". The guy might just be perfect, and he's got no business taking a backseat to anyone.

If Jesse Jackson had anything whatsoever to do with the NBA fining Dan Gilbert...that's just so wrong.

He didn't. As egotiscally stupid was Lebron's dog and pony show, so was Gilbert childish, crybaby tirade and he should have been fined. Mark Cuban has been fined for less.

That's your opinion. Others disagree.

Sandra

Funny you say that because just about every single sports writer believe it was childish as all hell. I have YET to find anyone OUTSIDE of the state of Ohio that have said differently. Could there be a couple, yeah, sure...but they have not made it public.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Someone here said it best (Paul?, Cosmo?........I'm too lazy to look back ;)), when they said there are no sympathetic figures out of the LeBron/Gilbert/ESPN troika. The ONLY sympathetic figures are the Cavs fans.

As much as I hate the way LeBron went about things, Gilbert came out of it looking bad also. JMO........

Really do feel sorry for Cleveland fans. Lebron made his decision so late (and apparently kept the Cavaliers out of the loop to the end) that it looks like we're going to get the chance to see if the Cavaliers less Lebron really are a playoff team as some suggested.

I totally disagree, Gilbert said what the fans were thinking. It is time someone took out the PC garbage and told this spoiled brat Lebron and his jock sniffers the truth.

I did say that and firmly believe it.

Gilbert enabled LeBron's behavior all those years and basically has no one to blame but himself. We now know why Ferry resigned.

If Gilbert really felt that way about LeBron why was a max contract offer on the table??

Just like any negotiation, if Lebron had signed that contract all would have been forgiven.

Who spoiled the brat and caved in to LeBron's every demand??

What prominent free agents will want to play for an owner that's liable to explode with a juvenile rant about him at any time??

He could have released a statement that got the same point across but in a much more adult, professional tone.
