It's a 5 year deal. And no, I don't care the circumstances. The bridge is burnt.
If your wife dumped you and professed her love to another man on national TV, would you forgive her 3-5 years later and let her back into your life? Not me!
Nope. That's a deal with the devil.
When we finally win a Championship, I want it to be the result of hard work, effort and by building a TEAM the right way.
We may be desperate, but not that desperate to welcome that sack of S* back.

I know you are upset but always remember to never say always or never. Lots of athletes and coaches have left teams under bad circumstances only to return. I can't even count how many times Ohio native George Steinbrenner fired Billy Martin and then hired him back.
I am not predicting LeBron will return much less that he would be welcomed back but stuff happens.
read bill simmons page 2 commentary that was published thursday at espn.com. he said these guys decided 3 years ago at worlds to play together and cemented the idea at the olympics.
then they willfully mislead the public and their own teams. the other interesting point....jim gray was on dan patrick's show thursday and reported he asked lbj's manager at game 2 of the nba finals if he could host a one hour lbj announcement special.
stephen a smith broke this story 2 weeks ago on patrick's show...yet espn is giving chris broussard (who i severely dislike) all the credit.
as a retired reporter, it sickens me how low the industry has stooped to try and get a scoop. no wonder i felt like puking last night. my soul was crying!

May I also say, spot on analysis. Another thing that makes me think it was a done deal 2 years ago that he would be gone if he didn't bring a ring. And that probably kept them away more, as they realized that by staying out of Cleveland, the Cavs were more likely to lose, and Lebron could come to them.
All I know is anyone else who burned their #23 jerseys, I can now suggest something to replace them.

Had Bosh said Yes to Cleveland, James would still be there.
Wade could have easily went to his home town to play.
More than likely NO because nothing negative was going to be brought up by a team TRYING to sign him. That is why I find it funny that the Cavs owner brought up how "we will not cover for him anymore" comment in his very classy letter to the fans....So NOW that he left, they covering up for things he did BADLY while he was Cavaliers.....??!! Really? NOW??! LOL!
No wonder LeBron left the Cavaliers, with that type of owner. It's obvious that this has been going on for a while and LeBron just couldn't wait to get out of there. The Cavaliers fans feel betrayed? LeBron gave them 7 years, the value of that franchise double and they're burning his jersey?

Three years ago, LeBron, Wade and Bosh all signed a 3 year contract, thus giving them "options" in the summer of 2010.
A few teams slashed salaries, preparing for this exact moment when they would all be available, most notably the Miami Heat and NY Knicks. The Heat however were the only team that could afford all 3. This is too much of a coincidence to not think this very scenario was in the making for a very long time.
Seeing that I have lived BOTH in Miami AND Chicago and know BOTH fans well, I can honestly say....Wade was VERY close to leaving. Now, do I believe they have wanted to play together for a while...? YUP. But I think once Bosh made his decision to play in Miami.....the choice for both to complete the "I wanna play together" deal was obvious. MANY down here and MANY up there in Chicago thought he was gonna be a Bull. Remember, it was NOT Wade who asked for a 2nd meeting with them, it was Bulls management that did. I am sure he thought it would not hurt to meet them again....and they went hard at him. And he blinked.
You must be wearing blinders or something. He was worshiped in Cleveland and it wasn't like he was on a terrible team or something.
Doubtful.
Business-wise, it was in everyone's best interest to kiss his ass. He brought a lot of excitement and money not only to this team, but the city and the surrounding places of business.
Oh boy. You really don't see the bigger picture here, do you? I'll explain in a separate post.
Thoughts on LeBron and the Debacle that followed
Ok, I responded to quite a few of your comments from last night. Now it's my turn. I don't speak for all Clevelanders, but I do feel my sentiment is shared by quite a few....
Let me start off with saying that it's been 7 great and exciting years. Actually, 10+ exciting years. A lot of us watched LeBron grow up since he was in Middle and High School in nearby Akron, Ohio. At an early age, we could tell he was something, really, really special. And someone to be extra proud of because he was "one of us".
When his time came to enter the NBA, the unthinkable happened. Cleveland actually caught a break and won the #1 selection in the 2003 NBA draft, thus securing our right to draft NE Ohio native, LeBron James! This type of stuff just doesn't happen to us. It was something out of a storybook. Our time has come, many of us though. Our very own "Chosen One" was destined to come to our team and save us from a Championship drought!
7 exciting years later, and coming off two consecutive seasons of having the league's best regular season record and our star player being selected as the league MVP, he hit free agency. During his MVP ceremony, he had this to say: (basically telling CLE fans not to worry) "I won't stop until I bring a championship to Cleveland."
But on July 8, 2010, LeBron went back on his word. He bailed on a team who won 127 games the past two years. He bailed on an entire city and front office who supported his every move. They loved him and praised him like no other. He was modern day hero. Last night, he became the villain.
Let me preface this by saying, it wasn't even him leaving that upset me the most. Ultimately that's his and his families decision. I would be upset at first, but would learn to get over it. What upsets the majority of not only Clevelanders, but all the other teams he teased throughout this process was the way he went about it!
LeBron chose a national stage, in front of millions of viewers, broadcast on cable TV to humiliate all of his die-hard supporters. It was an embarrassment of historic proportions. It could've been handled differently, but it wasn't. It was immature, egotistical, uncalled for, selfish, ungrateful and humiliating.
I've compared it a few times to a spouse dumping you on national tv and professing her love to another man. What an embarrassment.
LeBron is a tremendous talent. There's no denying that. He should and will achieve great success in his long career he still has ahead of him. But that doesn't make up for the fact that he LACKS CLASS. And Cleveland will never forget.

Bingo, well said. He should have made it in a simple press release a week ago. As it is, another thing I am PO'ed about is that we waited for just about every other big free agent to land. He tied Dan Gilbert's hands due to the cap, and now after losing a superstar, the tools that we need to rebuild just are not available this year anymore. So Lebron double screwed us.
