Yesterday morning, I went online to the DishNetwork site, "Dish Builder". I signed up for Americas250/HD Gold/Local Programming- 1 penny Cinemax. Designed the system for three sets. Receiver#1=HD/DVR + SD/DVR, Receiver #2=SD/NO DVR. When I continue on from that point I get a monthly price of $69.97, $0.00 due today, a $50 credit and the following message… “Your selections automatically enroll you into our America's Top 250 DishDVR Advantage Package. This package saves you money by bundling popular programming options."

I check out and a few hours later I look at my confirmation email and I am set up to get a 322 and a 612. So I call up Customer service and believe me I am a patient person (We have Hughenet as we have nothing else available.) I tell them I think there is a mistake, our package should give us dual dvr receiver. We should be getting the 622 and 311. Well, after two hours, three disconnects and five CSRs, they tell me they can change the work order to the 622/311 but it will cost $50 and montly fee is $74.99. I tell them that's not what I signed up for...round and round we go. During the call(s) I actually go online and do a new dishbuild. They tell me that is wrong or I am seeing it wrong...so I cancelled the install.

When I was online originally signing up, I was also chatting with an online CSR. I asked if we would be getting the 722. She confirmed, yes, with our setup/package we would get the 722. I know this is probably wrong.

Can anybody tell me what’s is going on here?
(I have attached a screen shot of a dish build I just did this morning with the same specs as above.)

2 seperate issues here. The Dishbuilder is not showing you the $5/month additional receiver fee for the 3rd TV, which explains the price discrepancy.

And for what you selected, you in fact SHOULD be set up with a 722 and a 301. However, the $74 price seems correct (considering the lease fee)

If you haven't given up.... THIS is the type of thing the CEO address is for. Dishbuilder needs to be fixed and you should be given the price it is quoting you (even though it technically isn't correct)

I'm pretty sure there is a bug in the online applet. I ran back and forth a couple of times and got different answers. On the third try I got a "system unavailable".

I'd try calling and setting it up the old fashioned way.

Or you could just call Claude at the Dishstore

+1

Save yourself alot of headaches. Take it from someone who has done it both ways..direct to DISH and then to dishstore. I'd rather shove bamboo shoots under my fingernails than go directly to dish again.

Despite a rather inauspicious start with Dish I do prefer their programming, pricing and receivers, so I figured I'd keep forging ahead. I could only locate one local guy and he seems very small and would not have any real customer support, so I went to the Dishstore. Very freindly and efficient. I did end up having to pay the $50 for the receiver upgrade. From what she said the package includes free dual DVR but when you add HD, the upgrade fee kicks in. That, however, is not the case when you go through the online DishBuilder, so something is messed up there. FWIW I am still going to write an email to the CEO address. Now I just hope we'll find good LOS.

Wow... you can't even get a free 722 right now as a new customer? You could a few months ago... that's some terrible marketing.

thinking of switching

Can't get a signal on my dish500 anymore
