A month after Dish Network said it would close Blockbuster‘s 300 remaining U.S. retail stores and distribution centers, Blockbuster in the UK is facing a similar fate.

I just gave away my nearly new Blu-ray.

The new smart TV's and a decent broadband connection made discs obsolete for me.

No they aren't, never had a Blockbuster here, but the Redbox's and Hastings seem to do a good business renting Dvd's and Blu-rays here.

Not me. There is no guarantee that a particular title will remain available online. VOD is a misnomer, it should be VOA (Video on Availability). Titles/series that I really care about, I own outright on physical media. The DVD/Blu-Ray may just be a backup for storage on my NAS, but it's always available.

I got an email from Blockbuster wanting me to click on their link and buy used dvds. I clicked on the link and it took me a a BB site to sign up for BB disc to be mailed to my home for a monthly fee. Dish needs to get their S**t together. They sent out the email before they had their site changed over.
