So I will take a break with this D* and E* stuff and ask all subs (even you wacky OTA people..no offense Ice:D )

Sooo while my wife and I welcomed home our first baby (a miracle baby in our eyes) on Easter Sunday, we noticed birds making a nest in a spring wreath she had hung on the glass storm door in front of our front door.

Actually we really didnt notice the birds or the nest. Our Cats did. They are indoor cats and we open the doors and let them look outside. Well when we got home and opened the door their eyes darted straight up and we noticed the birds.

The birds are chickadees as far as I can tell and they laid four eggs over the last couple days.

So what do I do. I dont use the front door normally. We usually use the side door.

What I do now? I kinda like watching this nature thing unfold. But I dont want to do anything that would make the parent birds abandon the chicks when they hatch.

Any or you guys or gals know what to do or not to do?

I know for sure don't touch the nest or the eggs mainly the eggs, most birds will abandon when smelling the human scent on the eggs. Just observe from a safe distance and enjoy.

yeah leave them be from a safe distance. I have over 20 bird houses around our home, my wife complains about the chirping....

I want to get a bird cam someday

Update. From what I can tell a couple of eggs have hatched.

I wont let anyone use my front door and have gone as far as buying caution tape and a new mail box.

I must be nuts. I taped off the stairs leading to my house and put a new mail box at the end of the walkway so the mailman wont disturb.

I have some before pics taken but I am waiting to take the after pic because I dont want to scare the mom.
