Big Ten Network Update

...Who cares anymore about watching football or anything else in sd...

Out of the 13.6 million Dish customers, at least 75% or more of them are still sd subs and don't have HD what so ever, so I would say that there are still quite a few out there that care. Just cause you don't...

Some info:
The reported subscriber rates requested by the Big Ten Network is $1.10 per subscriber per month within the eight-state Big Ten region and carriage on an expanded basic tier. Outside the eight-state Big Ten region, the network is reportedly asking for $0.10 per subscriber per month and carriage on a digital basic tier.
Not content with diverting scholarship money from promising scholars to stupid athletes, college sports has now moved to directly vacuuming the wallets of television viewers.
A direct paycheck deduction for all citizens is on the drawing board.

Nice perspective from whoever wrote that quote kstuart. For starters the $1.10 per sub is the ''sticker price'' for the channel according to the BTN. By all accounts the actual number is much lower.

Diverting money from scholars to athletes? This is a common misconception. Most, if not all, division 1 athletic scholarships are funded 100 percent by DONATION. Not tuition fees, not state taxes.

As far as vacuuming $$ from citizens, well, division 1 college sports brings is hugely popular and generates a lot of tv revenue. Where would you like to see the money go? ESPN?

I mentioned this in a different thread and I realize that Ohio State's football program is the exception rather than the rule, but OSU's football program is 100% self-sufficient and in fact, does a tad bit more than just break even. It funds the ENTIRE athletic program at OSU with it's income.

That's not the case yet. E* has nothing to lose by stretching this out through next week. After that I think the odds get worse until this time next year.

I agree with Posty.

I don't agree. The basketball schedule that BTN released blows away the much weaker football offering. Consumer demand might be higher at that point than at the start of the football season.

Why did the CSR tell me the 722 is inferior to the 622?

Question re: upgrading 622 to 722
