Ok, we all heard by now, E* just picked up BTN and it's already known that they will be broadcasting games in HD as early as this weekend (9/8). What's the deal D*? Any chance of getting games in HD this weekend?

Don't think so, if they could have done it this week they probably would have done it last week. I suspect that they will go on week three. No problem for me this week, my Nittany Lions get to crush Notre Dame on national HD !!:D

E* has available space and D* doesn't.
Did it say if E* was going to have all 5 channels or just one ?
I know the local cable company has only one of them.

How does E* have available space for more HD? Wouldn't more channels jump aboard with them if they did rather than wait for D*'s new satellite?

Awhile back they made changes in how the mpeg process was done and they were able to add more HD channels back then, I'm presuming that they have room still available from the changes made.

I believe that he means more space today---or this weekend. When D* finally has that capacity it will be different but for the period in question no.

i saw the dish network btn press release this morning. they are going to get the sd overflows but only 2 hd games a week. i think we will get all the hd games, once the hd version is launched.

The press release says there will be 2 HD games this week with the full time HD channel launching next week. It says nothing about future weeks.

Makes me wonder though, if the bit rate has gone down at all.
