Previous HR models average $249.99, that was the HR20 cost me back in the day
$147 and change for my HR24 is much lower indeed
Looking online, i see them for $199

Title says it all, why because customers cant read that it is a lease and not owned when they buy one from retail locations upgrades on equipment are to go through 1800-531-5000 ( national number )
Not to dispute anything Stone, but do you have a link and/or source for that info? That's going to make life a bit better for me as well seeing as how Best Buy and Sam's Club are two of my bigger customers. If people are going to need HD, the chances of them flipping accounts and coming in as a new customer is even greater since now they can't simply purchase their leased receiver.
It is on a memo we got today. Basically you will still be able to sign up for service at bestbuy and costco but will not get any more addiotnal recivers.
I post something tomarrow when i get back to work I post the memo.
when I asked about it basically told that once there supplies run out they will not get new inventory.
So we can probably expect the recvrs at BB and Costco replaced by a D* Kiosk
There is always a DTV BB hired guy there now in my BB.
Not to dispute anything, but do you have a link or source for that info? Perhaps it's from a DIRECTV financial presentation or filing?By the way, these boxes dont cost $500 or $700 or $800 to make. The build cost on them is under $200.
They must have been quick with pulling them, at the BB tonight nothing on the shleves in the area they were at. Just remotes and a Dish cover
I went to Best buy tonight and they had 3 hd boxes left on the shelves nothing else.
Thats all they normally had around here

When i was at my local bestbuy store last week.. there weren't any directv recievers on the shelf
today i see the bestbuy website no longer has them to purchase only redirects you to directv.com
