Universal use's two L.O.'s of 9750 and 10600.
You would send a 22kHz tone via your receiver to activate one or the other.
Universal is not really needed in NA. There are sometimes some Atlantic and Euro birds over to the east that use lower frequencies and would require a universal, just depends on how far you can see to the east.
