I have a problem...somebody out there is going to be smart enough to help me solve it.

I live in San Diego and have a place in Loreto (700 miles south in Baja) where I go often. When I go, I wouldlike to load up my HDTV, Samsung box (complete with Direct TV access card) and receive HDTV signals at my campsite in my RV.

Direct TV will not help me one bit with any technical information....so I bought a 36" elliptical dish with 3 LNBs and set it up on my RV. Did'nt work. 62% on 119 and nothing on 101 or 110.

I then bought a local 1 meter round. Didn't work.

Now I have bought a used 10' wire mesh C band that was used in the good old days like what I had on the farm 20 years ago.

The problem is my LNBs for the elliptical will not work with that unit. I also do not have an accuator, but can take equipment down as required.

Anybody..please chime in with advice. I know where the satellites are and I am confident that the 10' will draw the signal, if I can just get a compatible system running.

Why settle for low quality HD why not buy a 4dtv and a HDD 200 and use the C-band? though you will need a good actuator...

Your mount must be perfectly plum/level. If you plan on using that 10' c-band dish wish is a good idea, you will need a DBS adapter plate such as this: http://www.skyvision.com/store/mi5034007.html AND make sure you are "looking" in the correct location as mentioned before.

Does anyone know 100% if the 101/110/119 footprints extend that far SW from the CONUS? 110 & 119 should be tough to get down there. Have you looked into DirecTV Latin service or using just a c-band setup?

Loreto is definitely fringe, but Direct is received clearly in La Paz (so I am told anyway). There is just no one in Loreto that knows how to set it up.

Direct Mexico apparently merged with Sky recently and the reviews from Sky users in Baja are not very good.

I have been given 167 mag, 60 degees and 3 degrees scew. I received marginal signals from 1 satellite on that setting.

Not familiar with the HDD 20 but will lok into it. I suppose my trial and error at this point is up to $700 and a lot of frustration.

Yep $700 for trial and error is OUCH! You should always look into, research and ask questions out the ying yang before spending any money for something that far out of the norm.

There are still some good big dish 4dtv dealers in Mexico, you should look for one, 10' maybe a bit small though, most people in Mexico use a 14.5' or 18' dish, but some use smaller ones. Good luck.
