BB@ Home disc By Mail Ending September 19th

Playing devils advocate here.Even at $10,bb@home is still a great value,without discs by mail.Epix is a premium movie channel,no commercials,first run titles,plus you still get the Starz on demand library.In most cases one was lucky to get 3 titles per month by mail,some even less than that.So I really don't see Dish lowering the price.

That said,I wouldn't pay $10 for it personally,we had it half off for 6mo,it was a great deal at that rate.

Just received the same email. Not a surprise to me but I am curious as to what the pricing structure will be to retain the channels....$10, same as getting the current channels plus one disc??? Should at the least drop it in half OR bring better and more current constant to BB on demand. Otherwise, not worth it for the one or two channels we watch very occasionally.

For the record:

If you currently have BB@home, log into your dish account,go to programming, un-select BB@home and when you go to next page to confirm you want to cancel BB@home you should be offered half price for 6 months.

Just got this deal again on 8/7/2013. Try it.

I agree its a good deal, I just found I hardly ever watched the channels, mostly just Epix. If you are slick you can get Epix for $3.50 a month.

Anyone know if stuff transferred to an iPad can still be viewed if you drop Dish? I don't see how the iPad would "know" to block viewing.

Just for future reference, mind you- I've got almost 2 years to go. But if I need to start watching/burning all those EHDs, I'd like to know if some single view things can be saved on the iPad, and plan a year ahead.

For me, this is about the biggest negative thing Dish has ever done. I'm beginning to wonder if we're having shoes drop from a centipede. What's next? iPad transfer fee?

Why would it? The package was $10 before they added Blockbuster.

Now, I do think they should throw us a bone, and add FMC in HD, or something.

Because ALL their packages and fees go up.

Don't quote me...but I thought there was some sort of expiration on those Ipad transfers.I could be wrong though.

They seem to be hitting some bumps. Never could get BB to work out, unable to close a couple of large purchases recently. Bad rep in channel negotiations.

I agree. Having the Starz On Demand library is especially great, as most Starz content is on there, and thus, there is no real need to subscribe to the Starz package.

Plus, my Grandpa likes having Retroplex.

With that being said, I wish there was a way to add Rental content to DVR folders.

I just received the email. too. I much prefer DVDs to streaming. While BB@H was a bit slower on mailing discs than Netflix, I had no problem with them. Streaming video hasn't always been the best option in rural areas, but our ISP/telco just upped our internet speed. They also added a lot of TV options that are pretty much what we get now with Dish, and HD versions of all Disney/ESPN channels are included. The cost would be much less than what we are paying Dish now. Our telco doesn't offer Epix, but Starz/Encore addition for $10 would still be considerably cheaper than our Top 250 plus Platinum package. Our local telco offers a smaller capacity Motorola DVR, but we can add our own eSATA drive for no charge. I was hoping to wait until I was ready to retire in two more years to possibly moving from Dish to the local telco to save money, but Dish keeps making the move look more promising. I hate to dump Dish after 15 years, but I seriously doubt that Dish gives a rat's patoot whether we stay or not.

Agreed, great value. IF you're a big movie watcher. We aren't. We've got over a hundred BDs and more DVDs and haven't watched most of them. I've looked over the list of channels and think we can do without.

Mind you, if I could get all the Stargate movies and TV seasons as part of that $10 streaming, and in widescreen with later ones in HD, I'd shut my mouth up and take my lumps. Because I will admit streaming thru Dish works better than Amazon thru my Roku.

QUESTION: On Demand is still separate from BB@H streaming, right? I just went to BB@H and scrolled down and selected A Hill in Korea (or some such) to test. Worked fine, but I noticed the top said On Demand not BB@H. If BB@H goes, On Demand goes? Or just the "free" stuff?

It doesn't look like I can stream movies in my disc cue on my TV.

You apparently have a better local cable company than mine, because even with a bundle package, Comcast's HD and DVR prices are ridiculous, and there is no real saving, for a inferior DVR, and less HD channels.

Even so, I would tell Dish that. Tell them you want to leave for cable, and see what kind offer they give you, before you pull the trigger.

I will say Comcast is awesome with Internet. I am getting 85 mbps.
