Is anyone else experiencing problems with Atlanta WXIA-DT (NBC) on 622?
It is tuly unwatchable most of the time. Screen blanks out/green blobs/screen pauses?
Please Help:mad:

I 've had the problems as well - blocking, green blocks and picture blacks out. It's been happening for the last couple of weeks. The other Atlanta locals have been problem-free.

Yes, this is specific to the Atlanta NBC channel on the 622. It is terrible. I can only watch OTA at this point. I have been in contact with DISH about this and they have had other complaints. If you have not called yet, I suggest that you do. The more calls they recieve the more likely they will be to fix this.

I'm sorry Petrovich, I'm sure that you are 100% correct. I wasn't even thinking about the 211. I just meant as opposed to the OTA channel.

By the way though, if you haven't called about the 211, please do so. I really really want this fixed!

Dish is sending me another 622 because of this. He stated it is the HDMI cable or 622, I changed to componet and it is still there. I told him only the one channel is affected.I specifically asked if this is a known problem and he said NO. I want it fixed. several weeks is way to long. everyone needs to call.

Aeropush - We'll agree to disagree on that one :D Hopefully we'll have a good game this year. I'll be there by the way (as with almost every TN game).

On topic -
It isn't NBC everywhere. It has to do with MPEG 4 and certain NBC locations. This obviously isn't a problem everywhere, or we would be seeing a huge outcry all over the boards.

But here is what is interesting, When I watch OTA (I've even experimented with the same programs) there are no problems at all. I have to believe that this is a DISH encoding (or decoding) issue for the MPEG 4 issues.

NBC uses satelite to distribute it's HD feed. It has been flaky lately. When there is bad weather over NY City nothing gets sent out.... Watch OTA and you will see the cutouts, blocking, etc. Both NASCAR races this weekend were the pits watching....

Their OTA sucks lately too! Their SD is good, but then SD sucks. i have e-mailed WXIa several times over the last year about their crappy Hd signal. Their OTA also has degraded, the signal strength used to be in the 90's now it is 76 at best! I see drop outs all the time (and mean some that last seconds) on the OTA and the Dish HD feed for WXIA. I feel NBC and ABC in general lag when it coems to HD technology, FAX has adopted and embraced it and run with it, I have never seen any issues with my FOX station. The local CBS used to have problems, but I was dealing with their engineering manager and they eventually identified a bug last year and fixed it, since then they have been real good as well. ABC tends to have glitches and I think NBC is still trying to understand HD. Funny how WXIA brags about being HD for their news and such, yet they can't transmit an HD signal to save their lives! In ATL I would rank then as FOX, CBS, then ABC and NBC (tied for last) as far as quality and torublefree HD broadcast.

I haven't had an issue with NBC in Atlanta OTA. I don't watch it that much but when I do it is solid. Watched some of the football on Sunday evening without issues.

I didn't watch the race on Saturday, but I did record and watch the Sunday race on my 622 OTA and did not have 1 single drop out. I had also recorded via the 622 satellite channel and flipped through it to see how it looked and it was terrible.

The only problem that I have ever seen on ABC in Atlanta is that they sometimes forget to flip the switch when they come back from commercial so the first several seconds are in SD. But I never have any issues with drop out.
