Are you from the south?

There's a good chance the missus and I will have the opportunity to move anywhere in the continental US come next summer. Anything South of the Mason Dixon Line has been crossed off the list. We're not even considering it.
Understandable. I mean, what down there could remotely compete with Cleveland? You're in Xanadu now! ;)

Interesting, no state taxes is not lure enough?;):p

What would be wrong with anything south of the Mason Dixon Line? How could ANYTHING be wrong with that? LOL!

Too hot, too humid, too slow, no seasons, pay is less, people move at a snails pace, schools suck, morals are extreme, etc. etc. Just not our cup of tea.

Lol, I wonder where you get all of your info.
Too slow? What does that even mean?
People move at a snails pace? I think you have watched too much tv and taken it at face value versus entertainment.
Pay is less in many cases, cost of living is also lower in most cases, so it evens out.
Schools suck? Yeah, most places have their crappy schools. Most places also have exceptional ones as well. The south is no exception.
Morals are extreme? Not gonna touch that one here.

Ill give you hot and humid. That it is here.

We've visited the South many times and I tell you what, a lot of the stereotypes are true. It shouldn't be taken as offense though. That's who you are. You probably think Northerners are different too and wouldn't consider ever moving to a major metro area. Many people like the South. We don't. It's really that simple. We're outdoorsy. I don't want to be confined to my air-conditioned trailer 9 months out of the year. I'd rather have more manageable seasons.

I would make an exception for Western NC though. (Blue Ridge Parkway country). Asheville, NC is gorgeous.

Why screw up a perfectly good rant with common sense? LOL! ;-)

No offense taken, and yes, there are some stereotypes that are true (with some people).
I was simply curious about how you came to some of those conclusions. I didnt know that you had the vast amounts of experience that a few trips can provide. :D

In any case, you left out the main reason to move here, and once you remember this vital piece of information, you will probably reconsider. Our football teams are superior to yours.

LMAO....!

My wife is from Colorado and has lived in the South, Texas, Midwest. She says that Cincinnati is the most dreary place she has ever spent a winter. Clouds start in Novemeber and don't let up until April. She finds it depressing. I do too, but think the winters are milder here in Cincinnati than they were in Colorado. All a matter of perspective.

LOL I like your rant, MS.

I think HD may have said most of this tongue in cheek...but I will agree that things are slower in the south. Not necessarily slow good or slow bad, just different for sure.

Sandra

Aww shucks, I didnt even know I was ranting.
Thanks. :D

(and I know, we are just funning each other, honest).

Then I would say put up or shut up:D Edit: I am not telling you to shut up before anyone gets upset. It is a saying obviously.

When I claim that "our football teams are superior to yours" I simply ask you to look at the records in the bowls. Look where the teams are from that are winning the NC.

How are sports in the northeast more intense than any other area?

They just are. ;)

But the exception to that, of course, is places like Lincoln, Austin, Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Knoxville, Norman, Baton Rouge, etc., which are all very intense when it comes to college football.

Sandra

The exceptions are the population centers and college towns, where the majority of the people live? lol ;)
