What, never had SNOW before Nov 1st ?
We had snow in October.
It doesn't happen every year and usually it is just a dusting and melts in the afternoon.
That was the storm of '77. We have about an inch or two in the Tampa Bay area. Shocked a lot of people. Was funny to see the reactions. I had seen snow in Georgia before so shrugged it off. My cousin who had never seen snow loved it though.Hey...Miami once got snow! LOL! Scared the crap out of everyone...! It was like a late mid to late January in the late 70s.... I think it might have been '77 or '78. Water hose froze up, we went out because we saw something falling and we thought it might have been ash from a near by brush fire than had happened a couple of days before.
Did you guys put chains on your tires.
No need. Frozen road kill sticks automatically.Did you guys put chains on your tires.
I need to move to a warmer place, 2 inches of snow is nothing around here and that is a bad thing. I would take the south and humidity and watching my steelers by the pool over the snow and freezing rain and freezing temperatures any day.
There's a good chance the missus and I will have the opportunity to move anywhere in the continental US come next summer. Anything South of the Mason Dixon Line has been crossed off the list. We're not even considering it.
I wouldn't say that. In the Southeast they tend to take college sports very passionately, almost on another level. Moreso than they seem to take Pro Ball up here.I've lived in Florida for about eight months, and LA for three years. I love warm weather too, but when you're used to Northeast-style in-your-face sports, and you live somewhere else...the rest of the country is just not the same. Their priorities are different. Sports are lower on the food chain.

Are they? Granted the Stanley Cup (and hockey in general) is ignored there, but the Super Bowl is taken seriously (mostly because college ball is overwith), as is MLB (Braves are pretty popular in the deep South, and the Reds in the northern South). And nobody really thinks about college ball from Febuary until Spring Practice. This is great during college footall season. But the problem is, during the MLB playoffs, Super Bowl, Stanley Cup and NBA playoffs...everyone is still focused on SEC football. That can get old.
This is VERY true. Texas and the plains too. I would say they take college football very seriously...basketball less so.

I don't even know what this means. Are you saying that sports in the northeast is more intense than sports in the South or California? If so, that's a bit pompous, and untrue. But if you're saying that northeast sports is not a priority in those areas, then you're correct. Why would it be?...when you're used to Northeast-style in-your-face sports, and you live somewhere else...the rest of the country is just not the same. Their priorities are different...

Not better...not worse...just different. For me, it made my enjoyment of the sport different as well.
