Are HOA Staffed by Moroons and Goobers?

Hi, this is what our HOA says regarding satellite dishes.

"Satellite Dishes not exceeding 18 inches in diameter may be placed on the rear of the home. If you cannot get reception from the rear, a dish may be placed on the back third side of the home- specifically, no more than 1/3 of the distance from the backside corner to the front side corner of the house. If the dish must be placed closer to the street, a homeowner must submit a Change Request and attach a letter from the Satellite Company with a contact name and phone number, stating that the satellite dish was placed where required to get reception and is located as far away from the street as possible. Additional landscaping may be required"

Is this lawful?

no that is not lawful in the least bit, FCC states up to a 1 meter dish, as far as requiring it towards the rear of your property, just common sense

HOAs irritate me to no end. If I am paying for my house, it is my God given right to slap an antenna or dish on it. This is just like the apartment complex I used to live in. I could not mount a dish to the railings, but I could put as many God forsaken flower boxes and flag holders as I wanted to have.

My HOA head tried to invoke a one dish rule (yet everyone else in the HOA didn’t care)…..if you had more than one you were grandfathered. So I was grandfathered with 6 :D

Funny part is when they made this rule, Minneapolis was a must carry market so you needed 2 dishes to get all the locals.

I showed the FCC rule and all the HOA (minus the head) agreed that all they could do is say where to put them (most of us can put them on the back of the house with no issue. You cant see them from the road or the driveway). The head (who is no longer the head of our HOA, still is mad about it. The new head saw my dish farm and asked me if I install them for a living because it looked “very professional”
