I watched a VHS tape on my HDTV (kid's movie rented from the local library) and was shocked at how much better the picture quality was than SD from my 622. Yes... even VHS is better than 480i upsampled by the 622!!!

I thought Dish had been working on native passthru and it was to roll out this past summer. Any word on this? It's darned inconvenient switching to an S-VHS input on the TV for the SD stuff.

More likely that VHS is better than over compressed SD channels on Dish.

Dish did say that they were working on Native passthru on one of the past chats or forums.

That could be true too... But the S-VHS from thr 622 is also an improvement so I've come to the conclusion that the 622 just does a bad job at upconverting + 3:2 pulldown or both. My Sony does a pretty good job it seems.

I'm just too lazy to switch TV inputs everytime I go from SD to HD and visa versa.

622 PIP - Image and "frame" don't align?

I Don't Know What to Choose : (
