Well, my QPH-031 came today (turns out the ebayer was only 20 miles away so I went and picked it up). My good FTA luck even continued as the seller gave me a SNH-031 as I already paid shipping fees to him and he had no cash to refund me.
So, now I have a spare invacom lnb and a fortec lnb and 1 spare dish (hmm, what to do)
Anyways, Wow, has this thing(qph-031) got some heft to it. It really surprised me on the size too. Driving home I was kinda worried due to the couple reviews I saw from people saying it kinda weighed down the arm a smidge.
So I hooked it up tonight (0'd dish motor and reset it) I took out my DMSi switch to the dish and replaced my universal fortec lnb with the Invacom and hooked up the C and L feeds to the switch and then the switch to the motor.
Came back to the couch to test things out. This time took a bit more playing to get things how I wanted (this lnb seems less forgiving), but when I finally got it back to the way I had it, I noticed quality improvement immediately on almost every sat I can hit. Improvement ranged anywhere from 6 to 15 points increase.
I also did some scans of the sats that I can hit through a couple of my neighbors trees (AMC 3, 2, IA8) and the blind scans brought back much more (relative term) then my old LNB did. Signal was also improved a few points, but it started to rain so I can't say the rain didn't affect it somewhat.
Either way, I really like this LNB and the setup with the diseq switch makes my FTA that much more fun. Man, there is alot to learn, but all the fun I am having it setting this stuff up, I don't think I have really sat down to watch a full show yet.
