...on 72.7? Reason I ask here is I tried -unsuccessfully- to re-point my subscription Dish Network dish from 61.5 to 72.7 and:
1. Found nothing :( and
2: Spent nearly an hour getting the DN box in the livingroom to quit looking for the now non-existant 61.5 signal.
I have a full 110/119/129 dish, but I still had the wing at 61.5. As some of you know most of the HD on 61.5 is moving to 72.7, and I wanted to keep the wing up, for the extra bird....it has come in handy when thick cloud cover stops the western signal, the east would still work or vice-versa. Reason I'm asking here is the FTA'ers would know, even if it's encrypted, if there's a signal on 72 that I can lock with an FTA box, and then re-connect that dish to the DN system. Thanks....:)

I'm in canada so I don't know a lot about dn receivers but maybe your receiver is not programmed for 72w??????????

To answer your question, any HD FTA receiver with the add on turbo card would be able to show/lock signal from 72w but of course it will all be encrypted

If you can get 61.5w I would assume your line of sight should be clear as its not too far away

you should be able to lock it with the Dish receiver if that is what you're trying to do. Unless you have an old SD only receiver all the newer receivers can lock 72 just fine

Mikey...61.5 has some QPSK transponders so a FTA box can lock the signals.

Got it!

After trying again this afternoon during daylight hours (even though it was like 99 out  ) I pointed my Android phone to the sky, using an app called "Satellite AR" I found and locked 72.7! Got a signal of 62 on the "neutered" signal meter! :D:up

Don't say all HD is moving off of 61.5. Some HD have moved from 72.7 to 61.5 and will stay.

I've seen people talk about this before with have a wing for possible use during rain fade. In my experiences with rain fade on Dish, by the time you go outside, block 129 from finding a wiff of signal, do a check switch, wait for the process, reboot, wait for the signal to acquire, the rain fade event is probably done with or possibly now affecting you wing dish. Just seems like too much to mess with.
