Any chance more space added for RSN's on Wednesday??

Except that Scott has attended Team Summit and organized and attended these face to face talks in the past, so he was in the room. For as long as I've been a pub support, it has always been the policy here that the only way to find out what is discussed in those special events is to actually attend them in person.

so your saying that we lowlifes, who help to pay the bills, have no right to know the reasons that we can't have what we want. we should just shut up and keep sending the checks. i don't think so. if those who know the answers won't tell us, what good are they to us and why should we stay?

I never called anyone a low life. I've never been to team summit so I have no idea of why was said. Just explaining why you're unlikely to hear Scott spell out the reasons Charlie gave.

The access that satguys members get during team summit is not part of the summit itself. Rather, it's something that Charlie does voluntarily. One of the conditions of that (to my understanding) is that those discussions remain between those in attendance.

You have a right to ask, but I don't think you have a right to expect people here to break their word by telling you what they know.

Given the modern business climate, I'm amazed that Charlie even bothers to share his business reasoning and some of his plans at such events. Information leakage of that sort could cause Dish all kinds of problems (not the least of which is a competitor getting wind of some plans and beating Dish to the punch).

It's not in the best interests of these companies to give public timetables for products. Look at how much grief Direct got over the HBO HD channels that were announced years ago but only launched today.

The best way to decide which provider to go with is to look at their current lineups and pick the one that meets your needs the best. If you go by future promises or hopes, you're setting yourself up to be disappointed.

Ok. So Team Summit is something for people with some sort of business relationship with Dish? Resellers and the like? Ok, I get it. I see where you wouldn't want to cross Dish. You depend on them for your livelihood. Do most of the moderators on here have a business relationship with Dish?
 
I must assume that if Scott tossed out there that Charlie gave solid reasons then we would naturally ask what those reasons were. Also, while we may not be ENTITLED to know the reasons why certain choices are made, the very existence of this forum certainly gives us the avenue to ask the question and complain when we get no answers. Many companies have gone out of business because customers no longer supported said business. The Fan Boys can squawk all day long about jumping to "D" if they don't like it. It would be interesting to see what would happen if "E" gave a 30 day grace period relinquishing all penalties for early cancellation. I wonder how many would jump ship then. My guess, plenty.

Its quite simple..D* has most of the bigtime sports fans..Charlie simply looked at how much the channel(s) cost and how many subs he would gain (or lose) if he did or did not add the channel. Lets say u pay $2 a sub for YES (made up number) would he gain enough subs to pay for it? Or would the costs just be passed on to existing subs? (lowering his profit) Its all about making money!! E* is positioned as non sports competitor to D* and chases those subs because the profit margin is higher on a Movie Channel vs a Sports Channel
 
I you love sports go to direct tv if you love movies then go to dish it is as simple as that.

Right...but the fact of the matter is that Dish carries the sports I want. They just don't carry all of them in HD. It wouldn't cost them anything additional (programming wise) to offer things like the RSNs in HD. The fact that they do not have bandwidth is more the issue...and the fact that they use what bandwidth they do have for (IMHO) foolish things that are not necessarily better-served by HD.

but dish is already paying for the rsns. we just want them to turn on the hd versions for the games.

That is my point dish will never care about sport so if you are a sport fan then direct tv is the only way to go.

Which really gets back to the question of why this is a sound business decision. To actively ignore a *HUGE* segement of the population and give those customers over to DirecTV does not seem like sound business practice no matter how you spin it.

Those examples were good. Why add OWN when you are already paying for the regional sports? Why suck up bandwidth with that? I'd love to see the numbers that suggest this is a good idea.
