Any chance more space added for RSN's on Wednesday??

As many times as this issue has been talked about here it seems that Charlie personally is not a sports fan and sits back and say's "Ha, I got them suckers again". And Scott. When you advise Charlie about something he isn't even aware off concerning Dish, have you ever advised him of this complaint and what is his response?

I have actually had groups of SatelliteGuys members meet with him and the subject was brought up and Charlie gave his reasons, which in my book were sound business decisions.. even if we didn't agree with him.

Much of this baseball HD RSN mess could easily be fixed if they would just use some the HD-PPVs transponder space for HD-RSNs. April is also the worst month for HD-RSN space since not only do you have MLB baseball, but NBA basketball & NHL hockey too for most of the month. Expect problems!!
cept E* would lose PPV revenue..so it aint gonna happen

If by "sound business decisions" you mean intentionally misleading customers, then yes. Yes they are. They need to make it clear which channels are HD and which are not. And if a channel is HD only a small fraction of the time, that needs to be made clear. To claim the RSNs are HD is false advertising.

You can tell Charlie I have been a customer for a decade. You can tell him I went with Dish when I decided to go HD in December. You can also tell him that as soon as I'm done with my contract I'll be leaving Dish for a company that cares about sports fans and doesn't intentionally mislead them by claiming that the RSNs are HD. This is 2011. It is insane to not carry MLB in HD. There is *ZERO* excuse despite what the Dish apologists on this board say. Sure, one guy doesn't matter. But that's the rub: it isn't just me. There are thousands like me I'm sure.

I've got a 55 inch HD TV in my living room and I'll end up listening to most baseball games on the radio. That's a shame. Hopefully they will surprise me and put Rangers games in HD. Unfortunately, Dish CSRs have already verified that the first few games of the season are all standard def.

what were those reasons? just tell us the truth and let us decide to stay or go.

How sound can it be when people intentionally chose other providers because of this very issue and Dish keeps losing subscribers during various quarters? Sometimes spending a little more money to get something may cut revenues and profits in the short term, but help out immensely for sustaining profits and revenue in the long run

And let's keep in mind my main point: IT IS DECEPTIVE. If RSNs are listed as SD then fine. If I don't notice before I sign a 2 year deal it is my fault. But when it is shown as HD but is usually SD then that is deceptive and dishonest.

Oh so that is straight forward? It may hold in court but it IS misleading. And wouldn't a reasonable person expect MLB to be HD? Come on. It is b.s. And any reasonable non-fanboy should see this.

No, I think the reasonable person (who can't stand to watch a game in SD) would read those qualifications that DodgerKing pointed out and decide that they better do some more research since HD sports are so important to them.

Do I dislike The RSNs being part time HD? Yes. Do I hate it when my teams' games are in SD or JIP HD? Yes. But the few times per season it's an issue aren't enough to make me taunt the helpful Dish CSRs on this site (who have no power over this situation) and complain when they don't provide the answer I want to hear.

If its that big of a deal, check with Direct. They sometimes run promotions in which they will cover some/all of the ETF.

Yep. Totally my fault. Before upgrading to HD I should have known that RSNs were totally different than every other HD feed on Dish. As I said, I got taken. I'm the idiot. Dish got me. I am going to have to live with it for another 20 months or so.

I don't see this as misleading. It does state "game-only" and it does say "many sports". That tells me that not all sports are in HD and that the RSN only broadcast games in HD

I don't even know where the link to that page exists on the Dish site. Seems to me you would go to the locals qualifying page. I don't see that disclaimer there.

Dish should be upfront and tell us when full-time HD RSNs will be available, or tell us that there are no plans to move in that direction. Dish should also tell us when HD distants will be available (which should be now, since they are uplinked), or tell us that there are no plans to make them available. More than not having the services, the problem is that Dish ignores the customer inquiries as to the status of these two issues.

That being said, Dish will not be upfront and tell us the answers. So the customer has a choice. Either accept the situation as is, or go to another provider.

Which I would do if not for the contract. Once they lock you up for 2 years you are screwed. That's how they can afford to be misleading. They know that once you sign on the dotted line it is too late. Even when you find out you'll be watching MLB in SD you have no choice but to accept it for 2 years.

Damn..I must be getting punished!! I checked the guide earlier this week because I set a timer for Friday's HD game on CSN-BA (5419) but today's guide shows Friday's game WS Champs Giants against their hated ravel...the Dodgers in SD only!! It must have got changed today. It was the only game of the four game series on local TV...the others are on national TV (ESPN/FOX).

My beloved Rangers open the year against the Red Sox. Friday's game is on ESPN so I get to watch it in HD. Saturday and Sunday are on Fox Sports Southwest and you know what that means: Standard Def. Or more likely, I'll be listening on the radio. Ugh. I'm paying over $100/month to Dish and I can't even get HD baseball. That seems like a pretty basic thing to want for the amount of money I'm spending.

I'm still hoping we hear some of the valid business decisions that Charlie gave. I just looked at this month's bill and it is $124.71. I've been mostly happy with the service since December. It is only now that baseball season is beginning that I realize what a terrible mistake I've made. Damn damn damn. I've verified with customer service, the Texas Rangers MLB games (other than the one they play on ESPN) are *ALL* standard def as far out as the guide shows. This isn't college lacrosse or badminton. This is MLB! I think it is baseball that benefits MOST from an HD broadcast.

I know I've beaten this dead horse long enough, but I'm having a hard time letting it go. This goes to show you that you can do a lot of things right and still have a "deal breaker" as far as many customers go. I'm sure DirecTV has its own set of issues, but they've had the RSNs in 24x7 HD for years--not this shady "part time" HD that doesn't seem to include most baseball games.
