What is the difference between an 18inch dish network dish and a larger offset dish (30-36inch) when it comes to dish angling? I have set up some dish 500’s and the angle was 51 degrees for southern California. It seems like it the angle changes with an offset dish and I am not sure why? Is this because the satellites are lower on the horizon for the KU band or are they all basically on the same arc? :)

All the satellites are in a huge arc in the sky (The Clake Belt), so they are at different heights thus they all have different elevation angles!

Ok it makes sense now! Find the true south Sat, which is the center of the arc.
The motor is designed to follow the curve of this arc in both directions. I guess this is why they say to make sure your mounting pole is 100% level too. Thanks for the great information!

The farther north you go, the lower the true south elevation is

Here in MN our true south is at 38.5 degrees
