Remember when I mentioned how last year when an ALDS game and Mnoday Night Football game coincided on the same night, both games were wildly entertaining and had down-to-the-wire action? (Bills/Cowboys, Indians/Yankees).

This year, it happened again.

The Vikings/Saints game was a truly bizarre game, while the Red Sox/Halos played a very intense game.

Can anyone ever recall other instances when a baseball postseason game and a football game coincided on a Monday?

They used to avoid scheduling baseball games opposite MNF or they would play them in the afternoon to avoid any conflict.

2003 Red Sox/A's game 5 ALDS. Sorry, but I forget what the MNF game was.

Also, same thing in 1999: Red Sox /Indians game 5

Just found it out.

Do you remember that INSANE Colts/Buccaneers game when Peyton Manning stunningly rallied the Colts from a 35-14 deficit with 3:43 remaining to score three late touchdowns, Vanderjagt misses an overtime field goal, gets another chance after Tampa got penalized for 'leaping', and then Vanderjagt kicked the next field goal off the upright before it bounced through.

Wow, that was THAT night? I think we have a winner!

I remember that game. Sounds like the Colts comeback in Houston yesterday. Remember when Vanderjagt was considered an elite kicker? Did that guy ever flame out or what? They should do an HBO Real Sports piece on him. I bet there's an interesting story behind him. What do think did him in drugs, booze, gambling, women?

At least next Monday's Rays-Red Sox game 3 is a 4:30 ET start.

I'll be able to switch back and forth between Phillies-Dodgers and Giants-Browns next Monday night.

The following Monday there is no baseball, and that's a good thing, because the Patriots host the Broncos on MNF.

that was THAT night?

Yep.

Here's the proof:

Fox earned an 11.0/16 overnight Nielsen rating for last night's Red Sox-A's ALDS Game Five from 8:15-11:30pm ET.

Meanwhile, ABC's "MNF" earned a 10.7/16 overnight for Colts-Bucs from 9:00pm-12:00am ET

Overtime of Colts-Bucs from 12:00-12:30am ET earned a 11.1/26 (THE DAILY).

(That's a picture of Me-Me from when you didn't hate him.)

I originally thought that would be a bad game because I thought Denver would really be a bad team.

Oops.

Yeah, that's when Thom Brenamann blasted Me-Me for admiring his homerun.

Hey Bill how much are you looking forward to the possibility of a Red Sox-Dodgers WS and a return of Manny? That's gotta be the matchup. Nothing else is even remotely interesting.

Remember how much Carl Everett was booed when he returned to Fenway?

That would be NOTHING compared to this possibility. Even Clemens as a Yankee would never get as many boos as Me-Me could.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think you're right.

Out of the four possibilities, Dodgers-Red Sox is by far the most compelling.

Talladega

The Halos may be out...
