Also, I probably neglected to mention that before all of this, I asked Stone Phillips420 some questions about how he made a DVD image of the 522 hard drive. Without that input, I might not have been inspired to do the additional research and experimentation. Thanks Stone!

by the way the 625 uses sata

the 522/625 uses Parallel ATA. The 942 uses SATA.

Was looking around after my DVR upgraded to L291 software. There are a bunch of apparently encrypted DVR event files in the second partition which used to be mostly empty. Maybe this means the "on demand" stuff is coming to the 522 eventually?

Sounds like some people are going to try to hack and get the on demand content on the hard drives to get some free movies. This is why Dish Network is going to try to keep the hard drives encrypted.
