Logged into my account today after my wife asked why our bill was $245.15 as opposed to the $69.19 it said in another part of the site and not being able to get any details about the spike I called them up. The csr told me that they had contacted my receiver and had it download ppv info and the ppv's were all adult material ordered by the remote. This I disputed because we dont order ppv's opting instead to rent movies from a local movie rental shop to support our local merchants and we like to be able to have the movies for more than a day. As I continued to dispute the charges and the repeated statements from the csr that we had ordered ppv's the information from the csr began to change to recently ordered to ordered on Dec 25th, 26th, and 27th from a receiver we deactivated. Well as some remember we had a bad H20 that was replaced on Dec 24th late in the evening and we were put on our 3rd HD receiver after 8 months of service.

We have full parental controls on the bedroom receiver and purchase blocks on the living room receiver along with some parental controls. Our 4yr old daughter does not know how to work the remote yet and we plan to keep it that way. Until three weeks ago we havent had anyone stay overnight at our house nor stay at the house while we went out and as the old saying goes " theres a ton of free porn on the net" so why would I pay for it? After 15 minutes of going back and forth with the csr they removed the ppv charges and I added an account password for ppv purchases just incase and will go further with blocks on the receivers and leave them inplace just incase the next technician that comes out next doesnt pull a fast one.

The first year of my D service is coming to an end and so far I've went through 1 H21, 1 H20, through all of it had intermittant audio pop on HD channels cartoon network, USA, TBS, and Discovery. I also get audio stutter still on Nick HD and audio loss on the same channel and these audio problems are on component and hdmi direct connect or going through my theater receiver and have only happend with D so needless to say Im looking forward to the end of year 2.

Well looks like you are a victim of Tech Fraud. I am willing to bet a months worth of Playboy (I take paypal :) ) The tech that swapped out your H20 kept and re-activated it on your account and invested in a case of Vaseline and some feature length pr0n. I would have the CSR look through your inventory history, specifically looking for boxes that were de-activated then shortly after re-activated. If it helps I can PM you the # for D*'s fraud department which would more than likely be able to help you out.

That would be great and its what I was thinking happened, I remember hearing about a tech I worked with at Dish that did that a few times.

You would think the tech would be smart enough to not plug a phone line into it.
Of course, it wouldn't matter to him, unless they traced it back to him, which should be rather easy to do, seeing they have all the seriel numbers on the boxes and know what was picked up...

Oh they can easily track it.. RIO the Oracle system D* uses even logs caller ID to any activity :) I doubt he hooked a phone line up to it, more than likely he returned it to his warehouse and when D* tested it, it sends PPV info. There used to be a way to order PPV without a phone line but that has been patched secretly in the past few months.

He didnt use a phone line aparently, a month and half after the service call the repair center got the box and downloaded the info directly.

Well I am assuming your in further talks with D*.. I am sure the first image in this guys mind will be that poster "Is Satellite Fraud worth it? This guy has 5 years to think about it"

I remember when one of our upper management turned in his HR20's for the Hr22's and "forgot" the years worth of PPV on his access cards.. his next bill was over $3000. You would think someone would "destroy" an access card before turning in stuff like that, but I guess way to many people do not think.

Thats another reason I dont order ppv, I dont trust the equipment to send it and with the fact that I cant find anything related to ppv history or pending downloads on D equipment like I can with E I wont order ppv from D.

If you go to Manage Recordings, then Purchases, it shows anything purchased on that access card for a year I believe. I've still got things showing on there from last spring that I have been billed for long ago. It does not report if it has or has not been sent to D* billing yet though.

yea but the PPV "trick" that was fixed would make it so they did not show up in that list.

What do you mean? I've had things show in that list for months after being billed. Not sure what you mean by "trick".

In van's oringinal sitaution a tech was fraudlent, and he didn't have the receiver anymore, so he can't look there. Is that what you meant by trick?

No.. I dont want to get into describing hacks here so I am being vague... I will leave it at that.
