I remember that stunt... that had me cringing. Especially when you think about the fact that the judges really had no clue which box it was in.

Yep, it was something I didn't feel during the illusion last night. It's too bad Frank Miles "missed the donut" because I would rather see him than the hack magician.
Yes, the trick is obvious... He moved into the correct box when it was known. But, it was showmanship that impressed the judges. They had a hologram like image to distract them from the swaying box. The had explosions and risk factors to distract them. At home it was easy to see what was going on, but I bet almost all the audience was misdirected as required for any magic trick to work.
TV hurts stage magic acts a lot with wide shots. The audience tends to focus vision on a small part of the stage and misses what happens elsewhere (as intended). At home you cannot help but see the boxes sway because to you it is right next to his video.

Silhouette goes into the Top 10 and Gymkana and Steven Retchless (Prince Poleycock) are going home - no surprise here!
Who the heck is David Ghetto? I swear that I would have buzzed most of the "professional" guest acts that have appeared on AGT this year.
Anna Graceman and Landau are both going through - no surprise! In fact, I saw through their "cheap" trick.
Only one more act to go. I wonder who the judges are going to vote (between Smage Bros. and KK) through to the Top 10:

The only surprises (to me) were Landon Swank getting vote through (although I thought he may possibly get the judge's 5th position vote) and the Smage brothers finishing so low in the voting and getting the judges nod. Offhand, it would appear that Silhouttes, iLuminate, and Anna Graceman are the fan favorites going into next weeks Top 10 show...however, they will need to have solid performances this late in the game. Additionally, I think the Smage Brothers, Landon Swank and West Springfield Dance Team has almost no chance of making the Final Four show: Smage brothers have rocked but they just can't complete with America voting for singers and dancers; Landon Swank is a so-so magician and unless he pulls his head out of his arse (quite a trick!) he is gone for same reason as Smage Bros; WSDT doesn't have enough to beat the other acts.
I predict it comes down to Team iLuminate vs Poplyfe. Assuming they both give great performances next week. I think it is iLuminate's year. It is hard to predict the next two to be in the top four. It all depends on the acts.
Every time I think people are too smart to fall for obvious tricks and hucksterism, I am brought back down to Earth by events like tonight where the worst magician in the word gets voted in to the finals!
I'm not surprised, although I thought Fatally Uniques was better than Landeau. I thought Silhouette seriously lacked. Wasn't impressed. Anna delivered big and was only the second performer, behind Jackie, to bring any kind of chills. I heartily disagree with the assessment of Landon. I thought his showmanship was very good. Smage brothers deserved to go through but I see why they were the final spot. Their performance seemed slow and a little disjointed. They both missed the last two jumps, although they didn't fall.

I didn't get to watch last night and am surprised Swank got put through. With all of the holes in his act I guess people at home were watching the hologram as well and not the stage.
I'm really surprised Silhouettes was the #1 performance... in past week i'd say yes but I thought they had a chance of not even coming back so I'm at a loss there.
I am also shocked Smage didn't make the cut without judge intervention.... IIRC that's how they made it to the Semis as well. Doesn't seem like their act translates to the television audience as much.
Poplyfe will likely be in the top 5 but not final 3... I predict iLluminate, Silhouettes, and Anna with iLluminate winning.

I too don't get it. However, once the Judges sing a magician's praises he gets voted through...even if the trick involved watching him make toasts.
:I sure hope the Judges' buzzers and microphones are turned-off during the Top 10 and Finals shows. Of course, that's never gonig to happen since it appears a lot of people need to be told what to think, which acts have talent, and who to vote for.

I like Murphy Jr. (unique sound) but he should have been eliminated. He needs vocal training and time to develop a stage presence...and dental work couldn't hurt. Anna Graceman (very similar Bianca Ryan AGT 2006 winner) is very good, but I don't feel she is anywhere near ready. Right now I think this show is iLuminate's to lose. We shall see.
I don't mind Murphy, either. I don't feel his voice is unique, though. I agree. It's iLuminate's to lose unless Silhouettes can come up with a huge presentation with a great story behind it. This week's wasn't.
