This has happened in the past. If you contact Dish, they'll tell you it was a capacity (HD) issue. And yes, the Pepsi Center does have a sign display that shows the channels the Avs are carried on on DirecTV, Dish, and Comcast. But the sign only covers Altitude, not Altitude 2.
Are you guys sure that Altitude 2 even does HD?
When the Redwings are on FSNDetroit 2 it is never in HD but when they are on FSNDetroit 1 they are always on in HD and the announcers always tell you thjat the broadcast in 'crystal clear HD' they never say that when they are on FSN2.
I the feeling that the FSN2s don't have HD capabilities at least I have never seen any that had any HD on them.
It seems to me that as the Avs fade in the standings (or sink!) the HD broadscasts become less and less frequent. I have no hard data to back this up but the Vancouver game was a good example of that.
I am hoping for a good draft pick now so I am almost rooting for them to lose.. with a good losing streak (and a winning streak by the Islanders) they could even end up with the worst record in the league.

Altitude 2 does show HD. Since Altitude only sends out HD on home games and the Nuggets and Avs both can't play at home at the same time, the home game is always in HD whether its on Altitude or Altitude 2.
When Eric Sahl was with Dish (I believe he's an Avs fan since we've exchanged emails during Avs games), he told me in an email last season that capacity was an issue when some teams scheduled HD broadcasts were not shown in HD on Dish.

Dish needs to get thier RSN act together PERIOD. This is a major reason why they are bleeding subs. People want to see THEIR HOME TEAM on their RSN's they want not only thier RSN in HD, but the ALT too! Untill then, Dish will continue to bleed subs.
