I show people my BUD and often have them ask what all can be got. I explain the difference between FTA and subscription. In doing so, I got to thinking about what all is available.

FTA - C and Ku Band
4DTV - C band using Motorola receivers
DSR410 - W5 service
Dish Network
DirecTV

It's really hard to explain to (normal) people what FTA is. I encounterd this just today. The guy said he he knew all about FTA and used to have it. He remebered one time he had to send his chip to Canada to be fixed. I gave up exlplaining.

Well there ya go. The nerve! How dare you try to explain something to someone that "knows all about it"..........lol
but I cant help but wonder was he talking about the flash EPROM from a DVB or maybe the PROM out of an old VCII from back in the day, which was not ever called FTA as far as I ever knew.
