Alex Rodriguez tests positive for steroids and now ADMITS it

Sure is...all of a sudden we've all forgotten about that little book Joe Torre wrote, haven't we?????

What a shi**y time to be a Yankee.

Just when they were starting to heal from the Giambi, Clemens, Pettitte 'roid revelations, you have Torre's book come out bashing the franchise and now the dirt on their #1 prize A-Roid?! I bet good 'ol CC Sabathia's head is spinning from all the hub-bub going down in the Big Apple!

If the union can't see this clearly, baseball is in bigger trouble than I thought. Assuming that a majority of the union is "juice-free", why should they have a problem with this. I would think that the non-users would love to clear their names, and remove the cloud of suspicion. This could be the beginning of the end. Just another reason to ignore baseball.

MAYBE the begining of the end of the players union....depending on how divided they become. I mean I am sure ALL that have not, want to clear their names. I agree with Sean, the ideal was to see the scope of HOW MANY....not WHO WHERE they. THIS to me, would be no different that opening up court sealed records.

NOT if it was someone from MLB office or someone involved in ownership. IF it was one of them, this is gonna be a MAJOR issue when they open the talks for the next collective bargaining agreement. SOMEONE is gonna have to divulge who spilled the beans just to make sure it wasn't them....

Regardless who spilled the beans, perhaps he union should collectively bargain for the sake of baseball for a change and put in tough penalties for cheats. Some of this damage may wind up being irreparable, and put baseball back where it was in 1995...struggling for credibility.

And bunch of home run records and a person passing another player's historical record will not save them this time. Now you have to wonder if Ripken had help recuperating enough to play all those games.

I fear this will be THE story for quite some time

This will dominate news coverage until the NCAA Tournament.

If you thought the Dallas Cowboys were hogging TV time during football season- that will be nothing compared to this!

Ownership knew about this. No doubt in my mind about that. They've known for sure since 2003, that much is clear, and they have been sitting on this.

I agree 1000% and this is why ownership HAS to take some blame in this. They knew that after all the Bullsh!t with the the union, they needed SOMETHING to bring people back to their money pits....major league stadiums. When the homers started flying, do you think those guys after they knew it could be juiced player, balls and short parks....they were gonna stop??!! LOL!! On top of the steroids, the stadiums that have been built since 1995 are much smaller...MORE HOMERS.....plus expansion....WEAKER PITCHING.....then steroids....even MORE HOMERS and MO' MONEY!! CHA-CHING!!

Makes me think of that with Glavine and Maddux, "chicks love the long ball"....yeah, so do owners too....:rolleyes:

The Commish can't do it without the union agreeing to it.

ESPECIALLY since MLB offices HAD THE LIST!! They KNEW who was naughty or nice....And what can they do about something that happened 6 years ago? And if remember correctly...there really wasn't much rules against using it.

Not Detroit's. Although we did have to move the left field fence in, it was ridiculously far.

Well he needs to help facilitate something. There needs to be some kind of conclusion to this whole mess. It's to the point where it can't be swept under the rug anymore. If that means a strike by the players, so be it.

MLB needs to institute a new, tough as nails guideline with no gray areas. If a player tests positive, that's it, he's banned for life. This is ruining the sport. It's approaching an area that is beyond repair. :(

Everybody in the MLB is to blame. If they don't fix this once and for all, they risk permanent damage.
