AL CENTRAL

As I mentioned in another thread, I really don't know much about Washburn but I do know we really need a couple above average starting pitchers to help out Verlander and Jackson.

Washburn has been on quite a roll of late, this is a very good pick up for them.
However he doesn't HIT and the Tigers need Offense once again tonight to pull this one out with the Indians.

It was a fluke. We're still gonna win the series.

BETTER
Or they can go right along with HD's comments about giving the division up.

The Tigers have played so streaky it's amazing they are anywhere close to being competative .... Some days they look Great and can play with anyone and many (alot lately) they look like they don't care, just going thru the motions.

Tigers needed a BIG bat to help Cabrera and got NONE, Big mistake on Dombrowski's part ..... NO Guillen is not that big bat, Yes, he'll help, but adding a piece that has already been there usually does not do the trick. He's just more of the same.

Very disappointed with Dom.
Yes, he made a good move in getting Washburn, but that's not gonna Close games from the 7th on and also not gonna get the BIG hit for you when they need it.

I thought that Cabrera was going to be the guy to mix things up this year, but he's had no one reliable hitting in the line up with him.
Granderson is starting to hit better, but he's at the top of the order, (where he belongs).

Way to many STREAKY hitters in the line up.

Jimbo

Rodney's ERA in save situations is 0.86. Why does everybody pick on him?
Nice acquisition in Washburn. Wish we we picked up an outfielder with pop in his bat, to go along with him, but no bargains to be had.

Hahaha who said we can have the division? This team is terrible..THEY CANNOT HIT. The lead will be gone by the end of next week.

Didn't you say that a few weeks back when they were going into the ChiSox series also ?
The Tigers came out and took 3 of 4 from them ?

Tigers are very inconsistant, but they STILL lead, but only by a slim margin, unfortunatly the yankees forgot how to play most of the weekend.

Well...I think we're the premier team in a division mired with mediocrity simple because of our 1-2 pitching. That's not saying much...but it's something. ;)
Potentially 1-2-3-4 pitching :)

Of course there has never been a Tiger victory without scoring a run and that seems to continue to be a problem.

I predict a homestand sweep.

7 games with Seattle and Chicago ????

I would be happy with 5-2 and would consider 4-3 to be a success.

Looking ahead, I thought I had read that Jarod Washburn was going to pitch on Tuesday .... that would be against his former team for his 1st game as a Tiger.

Has that happened before where you face your old team right away, particularly as a pitcher ?

Umm no, the next homestand (August 3-9) is Baltimore and Minnesota. Did you forget to flip your calendar?

2 out of 3 aint bad! And the sole loss went to 12 innings.

These young pups will be exciting to watch as they grow up! Let's do it again folks. This whole winning thing was fun!
