AL CENTRAL

That's an understatement! Pretty much everyone in the bullpen has been terrible this year. What in the world is going on? Even Wood got touched for a homer last night.

Did anyone see how few fans were at last nights game? Wow! It looked like old Municipal Stadium. Even with the Cavs playing and the weather cold and damp, I was surprised to see it so empty.

Yeah, I'm not worried about Wood though. He made one bad pitch. Every other time, he's striking people out left and right. Plus, that David DeJesus has been a thorn in our side for a while. He kills us every time he's up. Thank God for that insurance HR by V-Mart in the 8th. We just need a few guys to step up including Betencourt, Perez, Lewis, etc. We've got one of the best pitching coaches in the league (Carl Willis). If anyone can get them to figure this blunder out, it's him.

As for the attendance, your right. It was like a ghost town. The weather and Cavs playing were probably the biggest reasons. Plus, the KC Royals aren't really an attractive box-office drawl. If it's still like that this weekend when it's supposed to be 80°F and sunny, then I'll start to wonder.

Nice to see Granderson coming around. Rematch today.

Angels may have been due but they are squandring for pitching like you wouldn't believe so they may not be "due" enough to take the series.

P.S. I was also surprised to see what a big boy Larish is "in the flesh". I'd only seen him on TV before but last night he really stood out at the plate.

And to think, they took him out in the late innings for a guy that tried to BUNT ... UGH...

Leyland said he would have had Thames in there at that point, but he went down with strained ribs earlier in the day ... he's now on the DL and Rayburn has been called up and should be in the game tonight.

It baffled me seeing that Larish is ALSO a potential HR waiting to happen.

Tribe now 5-10

The Tribe ran into the buzz-saw that was Ryan Banister last night. Bannister improved to 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA in four career starts at Progressive Field after out dueling Cy Younger, Cliff Lee.

Cliffy had a nice outing too by going 8 innings and giving up only 2 ER, but proved to be all for nothing.

The offense just couldn't figure out Banister and the Royals won 2-0.

The final game of the series is today at noon. Anthony Reyes will face Gil Meche.

After the horrid start where we began the season with 10 of our first 13 games on the road, I began to think that if we could somehow make it out of April with a .500 record, it would be an absolute success. Well, with 7 games left we will have to win 6 of them in order to reach my goal. Come on boys, let's do this! It's rally time! Let's finish off the month strong!!!

I can handle that type of loss because I know our guys will hit. I was very happy to see Lee pitch another good game. We need to win this afternoon and take our first series of the season.

I was going to say something nice about Lee, then you made the Sucklander comment. OK, the Sucklander comment is funny. Matt, you have to be encouraged by what you saw from Lee, even if you guys did LOSE!

How's that march to contention coming?

To be fans of the teams in our respective cities, you have to maintain a good sense of humor. :)

And yes, you are correct. It IS encouraging to see Lee pitching well again. His last two outings have been very good. As a matter of fact, our starting pitching has been a lot better as a whole lately. Our #1 issue still lies within the bullpen, which is quite ironic since that was supposed to be our most solid area coming into this season!

What I think has happened is that out bullpen was thrown out of sync early on in the season. The first two weeks, our starters couldn't get to the 6th inning and the relievers were called upon early and often. Now that our starters regained form, our relievers haven't yet calmed back down into their normal roles. As soon as that happens, we should have a nice harmonious season. As for our offense... WOWZERS! Besides yesterday of course, we've been hitting the hell out of the ball, which is VERY encouraging.

Still, it's a long season. I have all the confidence in the world that if we remain remotely healthy, we'll be right in contention at the end of the year.

I'm not sure "hitting the hell" out of the ball at the Yankee's wind tunnel counts. It beats losing, but that stadium sure is inflating the HR count for everyone that plays there.

OK, who actually PLAYS sports?

Shaq once had a video game of his own- a fighting game!
