AL Central 2010

Tigers lose again, Magglio out 4-6 weeks, local writer is saying with him out not much flexability for trades might as well play the season out, and look to Magglio as well not coming back next season since he wont make his plate appearances now. If he does not, his contract does not kick in and the tigers are looking at about 60 million dollars coming off the books at the end of the season.

However, with Magglio playing so well this year, are you ready to give up on him ?

IF he doesn't make his plate appearances, the Tigers could/would still want him back next year, I would think.

Of course it would be at a lower number, if he doesn't want to accept a lower number, then let him look around.

Normally the HIGH numbers come in the later years and don't get paid anyways seeing most would resign as part of a different contract, usually friendlier to the team.

Also, I don't know where Guillens contract stands, but I've about given up on him, while I have always supported him, he's played OK at 2nd. (I can't understand how 2B can be harder for a guy that SS where he was a star for years) but his hitting has never come around this year either.
Guillen should hit .290 and up, not the other way around.

So, the Tigers may as well add 2B to the list of player positions they need to upgrade.

It looks like the AL Central thread is yet again more popular than all the other baseball treads combined...including the MLB 2010 thread. Everyone loves the Tigers, I suppose. :)

I just figure that the other teams don't have anyone on board except a few and when theres only one or two in another division, it's hard to get a regular conversation going.

I would have thought that there would be alot of conversation in the AL East with the Sox and yanks, but apparently there are not as many yankee fans as you would think, I don't know if there are any official Rays fans onboard or not.

Maybe the yank fans don't wake up till October ?

Right now with the Tigers I am in "Debbie Downer" mode, maggs out, Inge out (will miss the fielding) In regard to mags, yes would want him back, if the price is right

A 20-25 hr, 90-100 rbi, average at best fielding outfielder, who can't steal, is he worth $18 million ?

Who would have thought that Aubry Huff would, by the numbers, be having a better year the Ordonez?

But that guy was cast away for being a bust.

David, hitting in the nl is clearly easier. Just saying. And to answer about magglio no, not in my books is he worth 18 million but that was a back loaded contract he signed. It was a gamble for both parties one that got the tigers to the series in 06 on his back. Also one that he clearly got the best of by getting his ab's last year and now it appears with this injury he won't get them this year. That's a win for the tigers payroll next year. I'll gladly see him back next year at a much reduced rate.

Man this going to get very hard to watch if this is our everyday lineup for the rest of the year. Too many kids playing now. None of which knows how to make a pitcher work. 6 pitches in the 5th 4 of those to one batter.

Worth can pick it as well, except they brought up Larish to play 3rd, thought maybe they'd move Worth over there.

Huff had NO DESIRE to play for the Tigers last year.

I'll take Ordonez, at least you know he'll give you effort.

IF I were Jim Leyland, I would shuffle the line up a bit and move Boesch up to third with Cabrera hitting behind him, this way Boesch would be seeing better pitches and probably get him out of this funk he's been in.
Cabrera can handle himself better than Boesch without any one hitting behind him.
Why should any one pitch to Boesch when there no one hitting behind him ?

WEEI's Dennis and Callahan to be simulcast live on NESN

Don't look now, but Steve Lavin is making St. John's relevant again
