Thanks for the inputs guys. DK, do you know who was making the acuators for Zenith? This was is "frozen" (have not taken it down yet) but it does say Zenith on the outside.

I put a ad on CL, looking for c-band dishes & someone contacted me with a free DirectWay dish (23X39) with I gladly took. On my way out his neighborhood, I found my first Primestar dish! I knocked on the door & the homeowner said "Please take it down". I grabbed my wrenches & had it off the pole in 10 mins, then wrestled the pole out of the ground. I had this dish & pole in my truck within 15 minutes & thanked him. The Primestar dish has a LNB Model # NJR2112F, this has 2 coax outputs (V & H) The DirecWay dish says FSS 1095-12.75 GHZ on it's LNB. I won a bid on a Coolsat 5000 this weekend ($32.00 shipped) so I should be playing with FTA real soon.

Sweet,

What size Primestar? There should be a mold number on the back of the Dish, ie 75e, 84e, 1.0 or something like that. I love my 84e and coolsat 6000, now if I could just get my big dish back up.

It is a 1.0, I barely saw this thing in his backyard as I drove by.

Score du jour

Yesterday I went out trolling for dishes and ran across one out in the country.
I always take along binoculars and my camera with telephoto lens so I can check out the prospective dish without having to go up and knock on the door. I take my little Geo Metro as it gets 45mpg. I saw this one and went up and talked to the home owners and they said "Sure, take it". I told them I had to come back the next day as I didn't think I could get it in the little car. They said they'd be there.

So after holding my breath all night I went back this morning, and they still were up for letting it go.

The first picture is the Perfect 10 dish. It's obviously trashed, but it has a nice Chaparral dual feed horn with LNBs and three good support arms.

The other two photos show what I was really after.

It took about two hours to take down by myself. If there's a next time I will take help. The last panel of the dish slipped and whacked me in the head, but did not draw blood. The mount was too heavy to take off in one piece (by myself) so I took off the ring first and then the rest. I think my back will be talking to me tonight.

I took along my stand alone actuator juicer and hooked it up and the motor still works. I will take it apart and restore it and regrease it.

Happy Days

I wouldn't be so cavalier about that Perfect 10.
I'll wager it gets C-band just fine as it is.
With a little patching, it should be good as new.
Or maybe the picture doesn't tell the whole story.?.

Congrats on the solution to your H-H craving.
Of course, I am a little disappointed you won't be building one.
But now with that commercial toy, you're good to go! - :up
That's the biggest of the three in the family, isn't it? The AJAK 180?

Send me one when you find some more.

I haven't given up on the H2H.
I still like that guy's Alt-Az mount on the 16'er

I find that my brain works on things when I'm not thinking about it.
When I've had to do design engineering I have often woke up in the morning and found I have solved the problem while asleep. :eureka
It's a little creepy

funny story, one night i lost my camera tripod, I looked and looked and looked! then when i fell asleep that night, i had a dream of where it was!

Thanks Turbosat
I have a Perfect 10 from a previous rescue that is in pretty nice shape, so I can just put it on the new mount when I get it cleaned up.
If anyone wants to come get these pieces I'll gladly donate them.

Now for that Birdview :hungry:

great news!

Oh, okay. I wondered why you were so quick to dismiss the newly found Perfect-10! :)
If anyone wants to come get these pieces I'll gladly donate them.
Give RV1pop a PM. Sounds like just his thing.
And he's close, too! - :up

Even though I own a full size pickup truck for satellite dish recovery, the other night I found out an assembled Primestar dish fits nicely in a VW GTI.

Fortunately/Unfortunately in this part of the world all our Primestar Dishes were 1.2m. I can just get one into the back of the truck with the canopy on if I take off the LNB. (and the wife helps) ;)

glowing BUD:

I've told my friends about a translucent BUD at a nearby motel.
With the sun behind it, it sort of glows. :)
I'll guess it's on the order of 8' or so.

Finally got to stop and take a closer look.
Guess that's not an H-H mount. :(
Unless someone knows different, I'm assuming it's fixed...?

Does anyone recognize the dish or mount?
Nobody home when I stopped this afternoon, so unless someone tells me it's wonderful, I probably won't pursue it.

That almost does look like some kind of motor but it's not like anything I've ever seen. Prob just a different type of polar mount, fixed.
