Adding a 2900 to my Dishpro/622 setup?

I recently upgraded my 6000 receiver to a VIP 622 HD DVR. The installer repointed one dish to pick up the HD satellite. This was an old 500 dish with a dual legacy LNB with two cables running from the dish. My second 500 dish is pointing at the other two satellites and has a new LNB, a Dish Pro Plus I believe. One cable from the HD dish is running to the DPP dish and two cables are coming out to the 622 (with a splitter at the receiver) and a legacy 4900 (upgraded 4700) upstairs.

As far as I understand it, the legacy 4900 is working because one line is connected to the 622, so with this setup I should be able to connect an old 2900 I have lying around. Is this correct?

So, if I split one of the two outputs from the DPP I can run a line to the 2900?

The 2900 has a blue card in it, I assume I'll need to get a new yellow card from dish when I activate it?

My TiVo doesn't play well with the 622, so i want to add the 2900 just for the TiVo.

Thanks in advance for the help

I guess putting a DPP44 switch would do it...but at $199 they're a tad expensive

Any other way?

If I add a new receiver from dish instead of the 2900, would the free installation add a DPP44?

Yes they have came down a lot in price.

Thanks for the help. The receiver is a 2900, it says so on the back. Bought it 7 years ago in my original install, hence the blue card is out of date. To activate it I'll need a new card.

IT IS 2800 - connect it to TV ( no coax required) and press SysInfo button.
(I'll bet for your new 622 :D))

Its a 2700/3700/2800 according to the SYS INFO menu. Do all receivers suffer from multiple personalities? :D

The 2700 and 3700 were introduced about the same time the 2800 replaced the 2700 about a year later. Over time software upgrades gave them all basically the same functionality, so they are lumped together as the same model. The 3700 actually had a better remote (Universal) the others only operated the satellite receiver.:)

Rubbing some of the grime off the sticker....I see that it is in fact a 7 (2700) & not a 9 (2900).....;)

622 upgrade question

Had my 622 installed yesterday
