I just bought an Acutrac III+ to use with our Dish Network 1000.2 on a portable tripod. We often park the RV in heavily treed areas, so getting the 110, 119, and 129 can be a challenge. I thought the Acutrac would make it easier.
It does make it easier, but I can't get it to work without connecting it to the receiver. I thought that it would use its internal batteries to give me the signal strength on all three satellites simultaneously, but unless I remove the terminator and connect the receiver, the meter always displays a strength of around 50 on all three satellites regardless of where the dish is pointed.
Am I expecting it to do something it can't? It would be nice to be able to move the dish around the find a hole in the trees without dragging the cable connected to the motorhome with it.
