Action Required - Need to upgrade to continue local programming

Something's not right here.... Sounds like they want to get you off of the "no-fee-DVR" you've got to me !

I'd agree, but I've got the everything pack, so I wouldn't have fees with the replacements, unless they forced me to lease them.

Why is Dish still issuing mpeg 2 receivers. THey will never get changed over to mpeg 4, if they are still issuing mpeg 2 receivers.

Well if your worried about fee's, I would be! So if you own your equipment, and aren't happy with E* then switch to something else. If you are happy with E* then do what you have to do to get equipment you want! Vip's are the best route IMO. As long as your going to subscribe to HD! If you don't care about HD at all ,then let them swap your equipment. They are most likly going to try and lock you into a contract,You can bet money on that. Take atvantage and tell them if I got to sign a contract, then I'm going to look elsewhere. You might then get something that could be worth signing 2 year contract ,Credits, Free Equipment, Free programming. I'd be looking at this as a way to get some gifts!

The fun continues...

Lo and behold, Dish is now trying to charge me for not retunring MY 2 721s!!!

Here is the email chain to ceo and the person that first responded (last name and info removed. You'll note that there was only a single response from my initial email, and the next two were ignored. (Yes, I had my phone number and account number on each email). I'll let you know if I get a response from the latest one...

Well, I was going to let your non-response to my last 2 emails slide, but now I feel like I've REALLY been treated as a second class customer even when I've been loyal to Dish for many years, and have been patiently waiting for the additional HD channels instead of switching to Direct TV.

Aside from the fact that many customers were able to lease more than 2 722 receivers according to messages posted at SatelliteGuys, I caved in and accepted the swap out of my 2 721 receivers for 2 522s due to the changing of my locals. When I tried to activate a 522, I had to call in and have them straighten out my account because they signed me up for another Dishin' it Up program, meaning a restart of a new commitment. It was also noted on my account that I had to return the 2 721s, and I had them fix that as well, or so I thought.
This months bill includes 2 non-returned receiver fees for a total of $200.
I should not have had to address this issue again, and am still willing to accept a 722 instead of the 522s in compensation for this continuing trouble (got to keep trying...)

Please adjust my account ASAP!

Jim

Jeff,

When I first called the account specialist (Mar. 1st) I specifically asked what the deadline was for changing out the receivers, and even after checking with his supervisors, he could not give me a date. It has now been over a week without a reply from you, and I have now lost some of my locals. I gave in and called the account specialist back and accepted the 2 522 swap deal, but only because I thought I had to. It has come to my attention that the 4-tuner HD lease policy can be waived, amd Charlie even alluded to that fact during this week's chat. I know a few people who now lease 3 (or more) 722s, and again I am asking to be able to get a third 722 instead of the 2 522s

Jim

Jeff,

I received an email from dish around that time (Dec 2nd) stating that there was an error in my account and that they were crediting me $100. I was never told that qualified as a rebate, and I even checked the rebate site at that time, and it didn't even say processing yet. On top of that, there was supposed to be a $100 rebate per 722, and I am leasing 2 of them through Dishin' it up. I ordered the 2nd one the day after it was announced that you could receive a rebate for the second 722, so I retired my purchased 921, knowing that MPEG2 HD channels were probably going to be phased out within a year or so. So, at the least, I am still owed $100 in rebates.

If you check my account, you can see I've been with Dish for a long time (9 years) and have purchased many of the top of the line (at the time) receivers. The 522s might be better than the 721s I own, but they are nowhere near the current top of the line items. I would rather have one additional 722 instead of the 2 522s, and can't understand the math: I can purchase 1 722 for ~$450, but 2 522s (or 625s) would cost ~$300 each for a total of $600, so I don't think I'm asking for that much in consideration. I'd even waive the $100 rebate I'm owed to receive a 722 instead of the 2 522s to replace my 2 721s.

Thanks,
Jim

Mr. Cirillo,

Thank you for the email.

According to our records, both of the $50.00 DISH'n It Up rebate credits applied to your DISH Network account on December 2, 2007.

Regarding your second question, the free upgrade only includes 522s. If you wanted to upgrade to 722s, you would need to purchase them.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns regarding this issue.

Thank you,

Jeffrey

Hi,

I have 2 questions:
1) I used Dishin' it up to get 2 722 receivers last fall, and filed the rebate paperwork after receiving the second 722. I have checked the rebate website continuously, and at the beginning of January, the status changed to say they mailed a check. I have not received a check, and believe I've waited long enough. Here's the info from their website: Your redemption has been processed Mail Submission

2) I received an email and voice mail about needing to uprade my 2 SD receivers (2 721s) in order to continue receiving my locals. I was told this was because they don't have 8psk tuners, and would be replaced with 522s. If it is at all possible, I'd rather have a third 722 instead of the 2 522s.

Thanks,
Jim Cirillo

In case anyone cares, I received an email from a different person in the exec office, and they are going to take care of me - swapping the 2 522s for a 722.
Thanks Dish!
