ABC Feeds, I'm NOT saying it again : - (((

Hi WVman,

Okay, sorry for the misunderstanding meaning of "Quad" which I already have. :)

But note that when the winds do hit my BUD 1, the dome feehorn moves
side by side. So, the 4 quad couldn't keep it steady when the win hits.
No matter which satellite I'm aiming at. :(

Once the wind stop, then the feedhorn dome is back in place and get the
signal.

It's frustrating to see and to know that the quad aren't strong enough to
keep the feehorn dome steady when the win hits.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Side by side by the wind. :(:(

What do you think????:(

Eugene

does the front of the feedhorn (the part with the rings, that faces the dish) move? or is it just the plastic dome that is a bit loose but the actual feedhorn rings stay steady?

As N6BY suggested, I'd start by checking all the bolts to see if they're loose. It could be that you're seeing the hood move, and if your channels are going out in high wind, you might want to check all the bolts on the dish, mount and all. If there's wear on the pivot bolts the dish rotates on, it could cause channel loss as well.

You can check those by picking up and pushing down on the bottom of the dish with a little pressure, and then side to side while having someone watch the TV to see if your channels go in and out. I think you said your dish is several years old, and if those windy conditions persisted over all those years, there could be something worn that needs replaced.

I'd watch the motor arm too while moving the dish side to side to see if the inner tube has excess movement. There shouldn't be much at all. There's a lot of things that can cause your channels to go in and out. :)

Hi WVman and N6BY,

YES, you both are correct on that. :):)

The ring on the feedhorn is tighten, NOT loose.

The dome cover is fine. :)

Actually when the wind hits, YES, it effects the inner arm of the
24 inch SuperJack actuator arm, as well.
NOT just the quad legs, but the inner arm at the end, also.

That is true, and it's been that way for 17 and a half years.

When it gets sunny and warmer in 2019, I'll check those bolts and ntus
on those quads. And the actuator inner arm at the dish mount.

I'll send you a picture of the end of the inner arm at the dish mount in 2019.

TODAY was a sunny day, but COLD at 44 degrees.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY.

Again, N6BY and WVman, you're correct on these thoughts, which
I thought of those, too. :):)

It sounds as if you may have found your problem. It doesn't take much to move the dish off the satellite when you have excess movement at the inner tube of the actuator arm. I saw a lot of that back in the days of the nylon nuts in the end of the outer tube. Von Weise had a great actuator arm, but the weak point was the nylon nut. You may be able to locate a new tube for yours. Good luck. :)

If you haven't already, maybe try tightening the bolts holding the legs on the dish, and where the legs attach to the feedhorn.

Hi Folks, :):):):)

I want to give a BIG THANKS to "N6BY" who suggested me to check on the quad, the 4 legs is to tighten the nuts and bolts on the back of the BUD.
AND YES!!! Tighten the quad or 4 legs DOES MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!!!!
I GOT MORE SIGNAL!!! I GOT MORE CHANNELS!!! I STILL HAVE ABC FEEDS!!!:):)
It's soooo wonderful that N6BY suggested that!!!
I thought of it, too!!! But it's been 17 and a half years since I
got the BUD 1. :):)
I still got ABC feeds day after day.

The nuts on the bolts behind the legs on the back of the BUD
were WAY TOO LOOSE!!! NOT by hand, but you can tell by
ranch. So, I tighten the NUTS on the bolts and it does tuck
down the legs!! :):)

Don't need to check the legs at the feedhorn, because I'm
happy with the signals, and ABC Feeds!!!

Thanks to N6BY!!!

Thank you, N6BY!!!:):):grinbounce
