942 audio loss ota hdtv

Anyone know what to do about a problem where my off air local hdtv channels show 100% signal reception but the audio volume for those channels is about half of the sat channels. I have similar volume loss from satellite hdtv and from dvd player also. I have optical audio cable to sony audio amp.

Dolby Digital is encoded at a lower volume than standard sat channels (stereo). On your DVD player, I'll bet if you play a DTS DVD, the audio will be quite a bit louder than your Dolby digital DVD's.
